I had read that on all 2016 2 series that the alarm was standard. Does anyone else remember seeing or hearing that? Since it was not on ours, and also heard no pre wiring to add later anymore. ?? Also don't remember seeing it on order screen at dealer.

ok I give up why not on mine? Keyfob doesn't have it either, not to mention this car has every available option!

Can someone else with a 2016 confirm an alarm on theirs?

I am curious because my client advisor showed me the ordering guide and it clearly states it is standard. (I am waiting on my 2016 M235 to arrive in a few weeks)

I did read in more than a few places that was standard on the 2016 2 series all of them. It sucks not having when you use to the chirp just getting in and out of car and locking doors.

All I have is the clown nose/nose on the guy in the game operation button under mirror.

I was the 2nd week build in Germany July 22

I just got my 16' about 2 weeks ago and also saw on my paper that says the alarm is standard but I do not have it, there is no chirp. Also to mention, they forgot to install my SAT radio software during the built...I will inquire when I visit the dealer this coming week.

I have a 2015 with the alarm (which I ordered since it wasn't std for '15).

A couple things...

Did you decode your VIN on http://www.bmwvin.com/ ? If you have the alarm, you should see code 302 alarm system.

If you see 302, but don't have the 'chirp,' keep in mind that the chirp can be turned on/off via the settings menu.

But doesn't the alarm routine take place on behalf of the keyfob? If your keyfob doesn't have the panic button you don't have the alarm I always thought.

Let me know after you inquire your dealer. We were also part of the Sat radio stop at the port also in Heuneme.

Yes, if you have the alarm, presumably you'd get a fob with the panic button.

I am curious, though, does the VIN decoder indicate that you have the alarm (302)?

That site is cool, but no 302 nor any mention of an alarm or security. Sucks though since this car has every option but that! I heard its not pre wired but who knows about that that could be wrong too

Ah, man. Definite screw-up by BMW. And, yeah, it's generally believed that there's no pre-wiring for it.

My '16 228i key fob has the panic button. My car is in transit after ED, so cannot test.

No, but if you have the panic button, you almost certainly have it. And you can decode your VIN (link above). If it shows code 302 Alarm, you have it. If it doesn't, you don't.

On the BMW configurator, it shows as standard. Just a guess, but maybe it is only after certain build dates, or maybe there's a secret that your dealer hasn't shown you yet on how to work it.

Yes, panic button is on the keyfob. I actually have a pretty no-frills M235, the only extra options I purchased was the HK sound system and black kidney grilles, no packages. I suspect the presence of an alarm system is due to build date? I picked up my car in mid-august.
