Thinking about getting a 2
I have been trying to decide between a 2 or a Z4. Curious what existing 2 owners think of their new cars? I am in the process of parting out my E92 and wanting to start a new project around first of the year.
Here are a couple pics of my E92:

I think the aftermarket shops have been a little slow to bring out parts for this car. This probably has a lot to do with the introduction of a brand new M3/4.
I think it's a great platform, but unless you're willing to spend a lot of money for custom work, it might be hard finding enough parts to make the car your own.

Wow your E92 is amazing!
But wouldn't this depend on the model you're going for? The sDrive 35is is a lot more expensive than the M235i and likewise for the other same engine capacity models. But if that's not going to be an issue, I would take the Z4 if I could afford it! I like its uniqueness. I haven't driven either though, but I'm waiting for a 2 series.

You pay more money for the Z4 only to get a tiny trunk for a shoe box only and 2 less seats. (If you were to ever use them) All in all, you pay more for less with the Z4. Plus look at all the awards the M235i has gotten! It has knocked off the 3 series that was on C&D's top 10 list for 23 YEARS. STRAIGHT. There must be a reason for it, so find out why!

Wow! You know what you're doing when you buff out a car.
Can I just give you my M235i and let you give it a makeover for me? All things aside, you're considering 2 cars with similar specs. In a nutshell, if this is going to be a daily driver, I would take the M235i hand's down. Better city ride, back seat, usable trunk, better MPG, easier to climb out of, etc. Plus as others have said here (and most car reviewers on Earth) the M235i is a special car. That said, if you've already got a solid daily driver and want a pure weekender/canyon cruiser/roadster, then the Z4 wold be pretty tight. Just make sure you won't ever need seats for 4 people or a large trunk. Good luck! |

I had an 09 e92 335xi and just got a m235xi and absolutely love it. The m235 has so much more to offer as far as standard features such as the m dynamic suspension, the msport brakes, etc. I don't think you will regret it!

Mom has the outgoing z4(sdrive28i) and I have the m235i.
z4: -Looks nice from just about every angle -Ride comfort is more rough -Cockpit feels more personal -Steering feels too light -Manual trans feels very rubbery, but throws are very short -Interior has feels more plasticy than m235i -Throttle response feels better m235i -Sits higher -Easeir to get in and out -Front end is gorgeous -Nicer interior -Nicer steering wheel -Newer tech -I can feel the torque lag -The sound, is intoxicating -Feels special |
