The guy's name is Matt Farrah. He is also part of the DRIVE network that his buddy Chris Harris anchors. Unfortunately, this lackluster video is not one of Matt's best reviews. The stats are wrong and his claims of this "M228i" being close to the M4 is erroneous. Oh well.

I like his review, but his look is way douche-baggy for me which makes me think twice about the comments he makes.
If you can so casually judge a man by his weight to the point of not listening to what he is saying, then you kinda come across douche-baggy yourself? : he's no Chris Harris and I think he smokes the ganja a lot, and not very organized, but as someone else mentioned, he gets the character of a car right most of the time.

At any rate, the 228i m sport (why not m228i?) is the best 38k a car enthusiast can spend on a brand new car currently. It even manages to sound good in that video! Unfortunately they choose not to make a 4 door. I'd have one with a stick without a doubt in a four door. Like a modern day us e36 m/3/4.

Meant to mention, Would love to see Joey Hand whip a stick shift 228i around laguna seca like the video we saw from the launch of the F30 a few years back. Besides being a pro, he is really enthusiastic and an asset to bmw and our community.

That was my favorite part as he's reading the spec sheet driving with one hand at 100 mph. Priceless! But he did seem genuinely impressed and surprised by the car and that was right after driving an M4!

He gave a straight forward review, not as sophisticated as most, but informative. As for 228i M-Sport, excellent value for the price and worth a closer look.

Awww no! He turned off DSC!

The biggest flaw with all of the latest M-Sport variable suspension BMWs is that when you turn off DSC, the car reverts to comfort suspension settings. So you can put it in Sport+ then hold down the DSC off button, DSC turns off but suspension is put back into comfort mode. Then you put the car back into Sport+ and DSC is turned back on. You can't have both; DSC off and Sport suspension - that's reserved for the Infallible, Holy M cars... bunch of crap.

Anyway, the cornering performance would have felt better for him if he left it in Sport+ and DSC in dynamic mode. Still, accurate first impression.

This used to be true. I recently drove a 2015 M235 at the dealer and sure enough it no longer shows comfort mode once you turn DSC off, it stays in sport. It could've just been a glitch in the system where it showed that it was in comfort mode but was actually still in sport and they finally fixed it. Or they just changed it to show sport mode to shut us up. I didn't feel a difference quite honestly. However throttle response is Still not as aggressive when you take DSC off.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure mine stays in sport when I turn off DSC. It's just a little confusing because the next time you press the mode button, it starts at comfort which makes it seem like that's where it currently is. Instead, I think with the DSC off you're basically in a custom mode, so it just defaults to comfort in the select screen.

I was originally going to get one of these, but the thing that got me was the size. We like to take road trips, and was concerned that for my wife and my Canon and luggage, and we needed a slightly bigger car. So I ended up with a 428. but this is the kind of video that can make you second-guess your choice.

I really didn't have a problem with him or the few, minor errors.

He told me a lot of useful info while driving really fast around a track. A track I'm very familiar with. He is not a bad driver considering he's making a video the whole time. That's a lot of information to process, for those that haven't done it...

Car sounded nice and seemed to be plenty quick.

LOL at the Scion with the sticky tires. That chassis with a legit motor would be a lot of fun.

Long time. You finally bail on your SG e90 for the 428?

If this is true, I need to get a software update on my 328 M-sport! It was obvious on the track, the suspension goes soft when DSC is turned off. This is on a 2014. I was very vocal on my complaints to BMW. Driving in Sport+ with dynamic traction control caused the brakes on the rear inside wheel to become over worked, destroying the pad after one day on the track.

Clearly the M-Sport cars didn't go through M devision testing.

Note he said $1000 for DHP...probably a 2014 car with the DHP (steering and suspension) and no track pack...so no big brakes or PSS tires

Some of his previous videos that he's made about driving and car detailing really bothered me because he was giving out really bad information and sometimes just made up nonsense. It shows me that he doesn't take the time to research and verify his information before putting it out to the masses, which is why the mistakes in this video don't surprise me.
