Odd: Instrument switch to speed display

I generally keep the info display showing miles left on gas supply.

Lately it has been switching on its own to display speed. Whazzup with that?

You must be driving too slow and it is trying to remind you to drive it more fun.

Do you use just one key or do you occasionally swap keys? Could be that you have two profiles (one for each key) that remembers all your settings, and one key is set for miles left and the other for digital speed.

Always same key.

To display speed, you may have to go into the iDrive settings and select it as one of the items in the central display when you press the turn signal stalk button repeatedly, in the area that shows miles to go, average MPG, oil temp, and such.

Actually, the digital speed readout on US cars has to be coded...maybe the OP has already done that. Can't think of any reason that the display in question would change by itself.

Mine switched to oil temp and I didn't know how to switch it back, I assumed I accidentally pressed something.

MY18 adds oil temp and the digital speedometer, but the latter could be coded on all F22s. I've had a similar issue, where it flips back to the digital speedometer when I start the car, even though I almost always leave it on oil temp.

I just updated the I-level of the car, and I'll let you know if that somehow resolved the issue.

It’s tough to be sure about causality without release notes for upgrades, but I haven’t seen this issue again since performing a software update.
