Handbrake "auto apply with ignition off" ?
I'm gradually getting to grips with the ways that my new 2 Series differs from my previous cars
I'll get used to the fact that "Comfort Access" doesn't lock the car automatically as I walk away (but at least I now know that touching the door handle will do so - even if I have to linger for a couple of seconds to fold the mirrors as well) I'll get used to the fact that the Nav doesn't have "Favourites" but needs me to enter a new contact to the list - and I can't just use the company name, I have to put something in firstname or surname to put it neatly into the contact list But - and it's a very big but - don't park anywhere near me until I find out if there's a way to make the handbrake apply automatically when the ignition is turned off ! In most other ways, like a popular fast food outlet, "I'm lovin it"

I wouldn't have thought this possible as you've got to pull up the switch? Allan |

Allan,
It seems a strange omission to me - French cars have done it since the introduction of electronic handbrakes - 2006/7 ish T

Hi Terry
Didn't know about French cars but then again been many years since I had PUG 405 back in 1988 in Oman. Regarding the mirror turning in rather than holding on the door handle have you tried pressing the lock button for a longer period on the key fob? That's how ours works and obviously as soon as you press the un-lock button the mirrors automatically fold out again? Allan |

Allan,
Yes, I've got that thanks and it seems to be the best solution. Comfort access still seems to be a pretty poor option for a so called premium car - my last car, a "lowly" Renault Scenic, you just turned off the engine and walked away -the handbrake came on, the doors locked and the mirrors folded without any action from me. Having said that, I don't want to sound like I'm moaning, the list of ways that the 2 Series is better than the Scenic is getting longer by the day :-)
