The car was chosen by the BMW board because of its distinctive appearance. I was recently pointed out a new Golf on the streets of Munich but you would never know because it is completely anonyomus.
The 1er is in no way anonyomus.
The same only-people who preorded more Mercedes A class than the mass market Golf VII? at VW they almost got a stroke...
and at BMW somebody very high up was thinking how a "distinctive" 1er design can do wonders for the competition (that has a technically very inferior car)

you probably remember what happened to Herr Panke,.... after Susane had a go at him

Any word on how much longer the wheelbase will be on the coupe and convertible?

Also will there still be an inline 6 option? I know the M2 will probably be a 4 banger, but there was a 6 cylinder 3er when the E30 M3 was out.

It's nice to finally see a 2 series prototype, though I didn't expect to see the convertible first.

None. The only people who have negative reactions to the lights are people on forums, never actually seen the car and outspoken media who a majority have yes, never seen the car in real life.

The F20 1er is actually proving to be as successful if not more so than the
E87. The car was chosen by the BMW board because of its distinctive appearance. I was recently pointed out a new Golf on the streets of Munich but you would never know because it is completely anonyomus.
The 1er is in no way anonyomus.

The F22/F23/F24 are the 2er. The bloodline is there with the 1er but it heads in a more sportier direction than before with different front end and rear end styling to distinguish the 2er from the 1er just as the 4er will be distinctive from the 3er.

The Coupe will be seen shortly as it is heading to Sweden in a truck soon for winter testing.
Will the M2 variants be more mass produced then the previous 1M?

2 > 1

From the camo I have a feeling that the 2 series would be more appealing to hardcore BMW design fanatics when compared with the current 1 series.
Yours truly included 😉

Good question. And will we now have to keep track of original 1Addicts vs 2Addicts? So as not to be confused by potential new FWD 1Addicts???
I see, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria coming.

It's the 4er that will start the mass hysteria. Then it will be known...

It looks promising. The M235i should be a hit in the US.

That's what I want to know as well--the 1M was difficult to get a hold of, but I really wanted one. Couldn't find one that wasn't spoken for or had a 10K premium added.

I doubt they will ever produce them on an M3/4 scale, but it would be nice if there were enough that a normal dealer might have one to check out.

Any chance the M235 coupe will be available for delivery by November 2013 in the US?

That's when my lease expires. I can't figure out what to get!

Looks like I'm gonna have to look for a used E90 M3 until the M2 GC comes out then!
