the tips on MPE are exact same size as the standard black ones not bigger as people seem to think. The pipes they slide onto are bigger of course thats where people get confused. heres pic of mine...

Anyone have images of the mp diffuser and stock tips/exhaust without the extension/adaptors? BMW says they are necessary. BMW dealer claims only rarely does someone buy them when they buy the diffuser.

I sawed off then filed my GF's as well. The tips feel very secure that way.

I know this is an old thread but I'm running into this issue too. With the m perf diffuser and stock exhaust, can I just use the intermediate pipe extenders (~$50) and the stock tips so that the tips will stick out the same amount they do on the car completely stock?

Anyone know if these will fit mperformance muffler? I measured a while back but forget what size. I think the od was 2 5/8". I bet these would work with the set screw. Maybe use a shim if needed to snug it up? |

I did not, I went out and bought the set screws and tap from home depot for $10. The pipe was about $30 for 12", I just never ordered it.
Assuming that you are somewhat handy and have a drill and a way to cut the tube to length this should be minimal effort and cost and fully reversible. Here is a quick scaled drawing that I did up. Red would be exhaust, blue would be the ss shim pipe, and the tip is not shown. I would use something like the parts below. just make sure that you buy the right tap for the fastener. I'd also recommend the finest threads that you can get for the best engagement in the thin walled material. Maybe put a dab of blue lock tight too? or a somewhat heat resistant lock tight. https://www.speedymetals.com/pc-4511...-annealed.aspx https://www.homedepot.com/p/The-Hill...FYOtyAodhfwNdA https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-3...1400/204787258 |
