You have no idea how many times these people get screamed at every day for things that have literally nothing to do with them. You'll instantly get them on your side, they will realize the seriousness of the matter, and at the same time you put them on notice that you view them as responsible for helping find a solution.
Sage advice.

I negotiate a lot as well. I'll bet a stack of Benjamin's you won't get any cash compensation. Keep things cool and things can work well for you. Mention things you have that they want:

-I'd like to buy my future cars from here...
-I was planning on coming to you for the servicing...
-I'm a vocal & respected member of a number of BMW blogs...
-etc

Then ask for things they have that don't cost them much, but would cost you plenty:

-top drawer loaner car
-extra service
-extended warranty
-free detailing
-carbon fiber mirror caps
-full tank of gas
-etc

Most of these kind of things cost them minimal, but would dent your wallet if you paid for all of them. Come in with a full list of requests and be prepared to make accommodations and at the end you could have two boss cars and a lot of freebies that help erase the pain of 1 bad day. Plus you'll look like a savvy dude for helping creatively resolve things.

Good luck!

It sucks that the car is being repaired, but that is what a warranty is for. S*&t happens, and it sucks when it happens to you. Even so, the service department and sales associate didn't break the car so I'm 100% with BEM-S4 that people will get much farther along being nice to the service advisor. If this does become an issue (and it shouldn't) that needs to be elevated to a higher level, they are the one who will be your advocate. If you are a reasonable person and they like you, they will be more strongly on your side and will lobby harder with BMWNA to resolve things in your favor.
I'm irritated beyond the point of having an attitude/ being abrasive with BMW employees.

They know I'm not happy. Don't have the energy to make a scene.
I would get rid of the anger and be nice to them. it's not their fault the car broke down. their responsibility is to help you out.....but you'll be amazed at how much better treatment you get when you are kind to them rather than negative...

and yes I know the feeling. My brand new 135is overheated and went up on a ball of steam 70 miles after picking it up. It got flatbedded to the dealer. They gave me a 5-series loaner and treated me very well....mainly because I took the situation as more comedy than tragedy. Turns out a radiator hose clamp was not installed correctly at the factory or at the port. These things happen.....in the end, it will get sorted and good luck!

Eventually got a 328i loaner.

I wasn't looking for financial compensation as much as I was maybe looking for a carbon spoiler, or something of that nature.

Will be interesting to see what the issue is. When I got to the service center, they were pushing the car as it would not start.

It should also be mentioned that my 2014 x3 broke down last Thursday and is in the shop as well.

Finally, as a side note, I have had 8 car's from this dealer.

Hopefully everything gets resolved. Keep us updated as to the problem, as 2s owners or future owners, I'm pretty sure we are all very interested in knowing what the problem is.

8 cars laters and they give you the "we dont have any loaners and you cant use our used inventory"? Come on.

I just bought my first new BMW. However, the sales guy is a good friend of mine, he's been trying to convince me to get a BMW since he started working there. The fact that he's been there only 6 months makes me a little nervous. My previos cars have been Toyotas and Lexus (5 cars from them). But sales guy in Toyota/lexus is my cousin and of the best sales person at the dealer (2nd best) and you wont believe what kind of tricks he can pull. Every time I go for service, Toyota or Lexus, I can get loaner. I can keep them overnight if I dont have a chance to return in time. Once in a while I get free full tank of gas also on my car. But the key here is the sales person's contact with GM and other managers. If you have a reputable sales person that's a good sales guy, he'll do the fighting for you.

It's time to find either another dealer or another sales guy

The first thing I thought when you lost power was your serpentine belt maybe got knocked off or loosened when you hit the object in the road. Certainly will be interested in knowing what actually caused the problem. What is wrong with the X3?

X3 has a tranny issue: wouldn't shift up passed second gear.

Looks like the 2 has a faulty fuel pump issue, they are still investigating the "let clutch cool," warning.

Anyone know much about failed fuel pumps??

I understand BMW has had fuel pump issues with the f10 and other turbo charged cars?

Basically every N54 was recalled for HPFP and the part was replaced. They also inspected and replaced injectors when this happened and extended warranty to something like 8 years and 100,000 miles on the fuel pump. Very little problems with the N55 that I have read. There should be plenty of posts in the 3 series thread.

Just cruised the F30 site and if you had "limp mode" (not a sexual issue) this is related to the fan and software and has been an issue but it looks like they figured out how to fix it maybe. Not seeing true fuel pump issues but the axillary fan is going out and cars are overheating and the engine needs to be shut off. Sounds like yours may be unrelated.

Yes, it was with the early N54s - I can't remember hearing of it on the N55, but maybe it did...

Sorry that this still isn't resolved my man...

An extended warranty is definitely a realistic and potentially valuable remedy here. You've got the leverage: well-established customer of the brand citing a loss of faith after these two poorly timed incidents.

Never had a problem with my 335is which was one of the last N54s (MY2012). I would be very surprised if it was a HPFP issue. Hope all is taken care of. I would be depressed.

Sorry for your pain. Getting two new cars and having them both in the shop absolutely sucks.

As for fuel pumps, have not heard much issue with fuel pumps with the N55's. I have the N55 in my 3 year old X3 and haven't had a problem. With my 135i I had the N54 and it did go into limp mode and they replaced my fuel pump. Hope it gets resolved soon.

I thought the fuel pump issue was fixed a year or two ago. Apparently not...

Who knows when I'll get the car back as I would imagine that parts are hard to get.

For a new car it might take awhile. Parts are less abundant.

Hopefully it's just an isolated case and you get the fix quick.

Wow. I could not imagine my dealer not having a loaner for me after the 4 cars I've bought in 8 years. At 8 cars, I'd be telling them I am taking my money elsewhere!!! After they fixed my shit of course. That is a horrible example of service.

This. After buying 8 cars from them, they should be giving you sexual favors to keep you happy. Maybe its a Westchester thing? My brother lives there so I know the area a bit.

Engine parts shouldn't be an issue since the N55 and PPK have been out a while.

True for the engine itself but who knows if they re-used the exact same fuel pump. And, in the past the fuel pumps were part of the fuel tank assembly which I believe is unique to each model.
