Wow I can save a whole $2000 for a 240? Thats a no brainer
It's not that simple. 240i will come with a hefty discount, better residual and lower interest rate. The bottom line is substantially lower on the non M when it comes to monthly payment.

Spec'd a M240i the way I would want it if I were to order one and it came up $50,120. Dealer inventory of the M2 is likely fully optioned with DCT and that comes up to $56,995. Maybe $7,000 is a lot to someone? That's not exactly a huge difference if you're looking at a performance BMW.

People that wanted M2 got them for MSRP, some overpaid by a few Gs. Used ones are available already at MSRP or less depending on seller.

Even if they aren't available right now, I still wouldn't be able to sleep at night lol. I mean I can get a broken-in M2 for $54-55k now. M LSD, suspension, M4 suspension parts, M steering, body kit, 19 inch wheels, M tuned software and hardware on N55, lighter weight, etc....

Almost any mod on 240i will set you over M2 price

Actually it does have CarPlay. Ordered my 240 July 4th and spoke to the dealership today to make sure. He said it's not up on the website because they won't start production with CarPlay until mid August so they aren't advertising it. It's a $300 option and requires navigation

Not everyone prioritizes optimal performance over everyday comforts. 95% of drivers are only using these cars on the road, and in the scenario the M240 will still be a very quick road car. Some people may not be a fan of black as the only interior option on the M2, M240 gets plenty of options. Not to mention if you need AWD then the Xdrive is available. I am not one of these people and I'd obviously prefer the M2 but it's easy to see the target market BMW is going for here.

On a side note, if I actually did want a M240 I would walk into a dealer acting like I want an M2. As the sales discussion progresses I am sure they would push the M240 and I'm betting you could get it close to invoice haha

I can see where they made the differentiation in options. You can add exec pack options individually from the M2, and the LSD isn't available either.

Everyone is saying that the fully loaded m240i is only 2k cheaper than the m2, and they're correct. What they're forgetting is that the fully loaded 240 is also an xDrive model. The m2 is only rwd. Might be a big difference to a lot of people. Not to mention that the m2 doesn't currently offer Apple CarPlay whereas the 240 does come with it. Yes the n55 is a proven motor, but the b58 makes the same tq as the m2 with overboost. Stock, the extra 2k for an m2 over the 240i only increases your 0-60 time by .1 seconds.

Also, the m2 if you go to order at the moment as roughly an 18 month waiting period which means the ones that are on dealer lots at the moment will probably be going for a premium over $54k.

That was one of the things I am considering when looking for either a '16 M235i xdrive or the 2017 model.
Shh don't bring attention to it until I've signed! I feel like it's an oversight
Do yourself a favor. Take a screen shot of the page and save it. It may come in handy should you look to push the issue with BMW NA.
Warranty remains the same 4-year period, it's the maintenance plan that's reduced to 3 years.

The difference is greater than $2k because you'll be able to get a discount on the 240 and not the M2 (anytime soon). I paid sticker for mine and that was painful enough. I can list things I would prefer like xdrive, different interior colors, etc but at the end of the day, I still love my M2 even if I had to compromise on some stuff. The 240 wouldn't be an option for me as long as there is an M2.

Fully loaded xDrive 240 runs over $55k.

My apologies, you are correct, $55,320. Still though, fully loaded m2 is $60,045 and performance wise, the extra $5k isn't worth it imo. xDrive and Apple Carplay win me over to the 240 because of the practicality and still almost similar performance numbers.

But then might as well get M235 and save another $15-20k. Extra $20k in pocket will insure the good night sleep )

When I built RWD 240i manual it was 2k cheaper then loaded M2 manual. $52k vs 54k or something like that. My M235i RWD was right about $55k with LSD

Fully loaded M2 is either $54k or $57k with DCT.

Just built the rwd 240 on the site and comes to 53,320. xDrive is only a 2k bump. Also did the m2 and that's where I got the $60k number above when adding every option on the configurator. Maybe they made some corrections over night? Not sure when you last built it.

I think he's including the $2500 M Driver's Package, which wasn't available for MY2016.
