This is interesting.

Haha, mine's been doing the opposite. The first tank of gas way my best, I must have been babying it more.

Are you just driving it more aggressive in Sport+ vs Sport? I thought the only difference between the two was the traction control settings.

Hey bro

Oh I set my sport mode to only stiffen the chassis with normal acceleration .

There's no selectable options in Sport+ mode ... So it's chassis + drivetrain . (& DSC off)

How did you set Sport Mode with Normal Acceleration and only stiffen the chassis? I haven't figured that out yet.

Or when you change modes and the i-drive screen shows that the mode is changing, you can select "configure sport" and it gives you the option of chassis only or drivetrain only.

I'm not sure if my tank if filling all the way at some of the gas station's I've been going to, but regardless of that, I'm getting like 18/19 on my daily commute. All backroads, always in at least sport.

Oh I know, but that change for a few seconds started to annoy me. Like Pikachu said, it shows you in the gauge cluster what mode you're in so the animation on the nav screen isn't necessary.

Im at 1/2 a tank driving like grandma in Comfort mode and am averaging 14.7mpg. Total mileage at 1/2 tank is 98. WTF. Im going to take the car in to the dealer. My guess is that they will find nothing wrong. Quite irritating considering the car isn't even two weeks old.

Yep, something's off. Either you are idling A LOT or doing A LOT of stop and go or quick trips. What's your average MPH showing?

Following this thread with interest. It sounds like on average the M235i fuel economy is slightly below that of the 335i, which makes sense given the slightly greater HP, and very similar weight. I believe the fuel tank on the 335i is 2 gallons more -- so on one tank, the range of the 335i is considerably greater. Does this sound roughly correct? I'm debating between the two cars.

Agreed.

My wife (navigator) is always punching in a nav destination or searching through my song playlist just as I slap it into Sport+ and step all over what she was viewing on screen.

To keep the warden happy, I've disabled the mode changes on the nav screens as well.

Oddly the automatics have the exact same gas mileage ratings but the manual 335i is rated better, not sure how that makes sense.

For once though, the EPA ratings are actually pretty spot on in my experience.

Thanks for posting that, HX_Guy. Re-reading the mpg numbers posted on this thread, there's a pretty big range even for the same M235i transmission. There's evidently a lot of experimentation on the AT side with use of Eco, Comfort, Sport and Sport+. What about on the 6MT side, what are the best mpg numbers people have been able to obtain?

Can't wait to get mine delivered here in Bahrain. For $2.65, I get about 2.65 gallons or 10 liters of premium gasoline. My car's been sitting at the Bahrain BMW for pre delivery inspection for 10 days now. Because of Ramadan, things are really going slow.
