Can you fit a bike?

I'm coming from an E90 335 and E92 M3. In both of these I can fold down the rear seats and fit a full size mountain bike in the back (with the front wheel off). Has anyone tried this in the 2 series? I take delivery in about 2 months and want to make sure I'm prepared! Any advice is appreciated

I fit a road bike in all the time. You do need to take off the front wheel though.

I did the same thing with my 1 series. The trunk on the 2 is bigger.

Thanks. I don't have a 2er but was going to say that my 29er and 58.5cm roady both fit in our E82 with no issues. Sounds like the 2er should be no problem.

Haven't tried with my 29er yet because it seems like a bad idea to put a filthy mountain bike into a brand new 50K car .

Why not just get a roof mounted bike rack?

I have one, but park at work in a garage and prefer having the bike inside the car when at work. I use the rack once it's dirty. Everything it sits on inside the car is black and easy to clean too.

I fold down the seats and have a sheet covering everything. It is very easy to clean the sheet and the inside stays spotless.

I wonder how long it will take for a trailer hitch to be designed so I can use my hitch rack like with my 1 series....

I'm not a big fan of hitch racks. I have seen to many bikes ruined by either driver backing up into something or a rear end collision. I do have a 2 series BMW rack for when I need to carry more than one bike.

I am able to fit my 20 inch mountain bike with the the front wheel off in my 135i. Seats down of course. Can't see why it wouldn't fit in the M235i as its slightly bigger

Hmm. I guess I'll give it a shot and try fitting my 29er into the 2 series at some point. Might save me the cost of a bike rack. Should fit with the front wheel off.

Just got a 235i and would love to bring bikes on trips with us. Is the BMW roof rack a good one? Or should I wait for the folks at Thule or Yakima to mfr one?

The BMW rack is made by Thule. Is a great and screws right into the roof. I have used BMW racks for over 20 years.

Call Sun BMW in Pennsylvania for the best price.

Hmmm…good to know re Thule.

Quick look around the web doesn't show any 2-specific base system yet. Maybe Sun has them but none of the other BMW sites show avail yet.

The 2 series and the 4 series use the same rack. The part number is 82-71-2-350-212.

The BMW roof top system is nifty as hell. The attachment hook gear comes standard in the roof of every BMW car, you just have not realized it. Dig in here: http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ACCESSORIE...SPORT/OVERVIEW

I use the BMW rails on my 1 series and recommend them. My Yakima Forklift and Frontloader racks work fine with the rails or you can go with the OEM racks for an even better fit.

I had Thule Aeroblades on my Infiniti EX and they were noisier. The BMW roof rails are easy to attach and detach - takes less than 5 min.
