On The Boat
So, after 10 weeks, my vehicle is on the Grand Hero, now moored in Portsmouth, England. Kinda cool to be able to track the ship as it travels across the Atlantic, the Panama Canal and on to Oxnard Ca, and then its trip to Seattle.
Nice folks at Seattle BMW got me a loaner car (2018 3.0 X3) due to the unexpected wait..very classy. Would recommend without reservation. |

OP, how long did yours spend at the port in Germany? Mine has been there almost 2 weeks. Still "waiting on shipping vessel" according to the call center recording thing. I've been checking the webcam at Bremerhaven (assuming that's where it is). And there was a big boat there yesterday and now it's gone, but still showing my car is there. Looks like I'll be waiting for the next one.
I put my deposit in at the dealer exactly 2 months ago today. Was told 6-8 weeks. Sigh.

Makrop, I put my deposit down on 3/24 and the car is at sea now for 2 days. Spent about 2 weeks at port, which was making me nuts. Very frustrating however, the motivation of all the actors here, factory, shipping, dealer is to get you in your now paid for car, in the shortest possible time. Hang in there, buddy. I still have another month now. BTW, I just sold my fantastic 2002 E46 325i MT which I purchased new in Dec. 2001. Couldn't part with that car, it was so honest.

Not what I wanted to hear. Mine has been waiting at the port for a few days and I need it here for delivery in Toledo no later than July 1st to keep my vanity plate. I too was given the same timeframe and signed my purchase agreement on 3/31.

I sold my 2003 E46 325i 5MT (base car with only a moonroof option) @ 210k+ miles in Oct 2013 and got my first F30 328i no line 6MT. I had a very bad case of buyers remorse. But the E46 was too unreliable as an only car. I guess things change and one is forced to move on. The first F30 was a lemon. BMW bought it back and I got a second one, a 2015 328i M-sport 6MT. After the no line, this was better, so I am happier now. The E46 hit all the spots with steering, suspension, NA inline 6, exhaust note. F30 falls short in all four areas. Sorely miss the E46. New BMWs are all about flashy LED accent lights and little M logos.
As I approach 100k with my F30 I'm trying to decide what to get next (I'm at 84k now and under extended warranty and maintenance to 100k). I'm trying to avoid owning the F30 out of warranty. I hear G20 will not have a manual in the US. Hence I'm considering an F22. I would get an F32, but I think the doors are impractically long which will making exiting after parallel parking near a curb a problem and also generally exiting the car in tight spots. |

We're on the boat! How do you get more detailed information like the name of the ship, etc? I'm registered at My BMW and My Garage (which continuously give me an error that it's unavailable).

Mine is currently in Southhampton, should be leaving later today. 8 days till hitting Halifax and hopefully 2 weeks from there (fingers crossed).
Did European Delivery on May 15th, dropped it back after a 500km run down to Austria and back to Munich. Figured it would have left Bremmerhaven sooner than June 5th but guess I missed a boat before mine. If you even get the chance to do an ED, do it! |

Went into dealership and placed the order April 21st. Finally got a prod # June 5th, so a week ago today.
Funny enough my dealer emailed me since my last post with some great news. My car has entered status 150. |

Bob (salesman): So, Doug, how do you like your car now that you have it back in the States? Me: Gee, Bob, I haven't seen the car yet. (or thought about it, really) Bob: WTF!?! $*&)%^$$&!#_%&$ I'll call you back in a few minutes! Bob: Okay, the car's been sitting in a back lot at the port in Baltimore for five weeks. It will be at your dealer in New Hampshire day after tomorrow. I'm very sorry - nothing like this has happened before, and that's why I wasn't on top of it. Me: No worries, Bob, thanks for following up. I'm sure I would have wondered where it was sooner rather than later! The car was a garage queen / occasional road-trip car once I got it. After five years, the wife finally said "Look, if we're not going to use it, I'd really like the garage space back." That was it for that unit - I sold it to a guy in Seattle, and he got a great deal. |

Any coupe will have long doors. Mine rarely bother me and, as has been pointed out on this forum many times, the F22 2-series is almost identical to the E46 in all dimensions.
I had my E46 for over a dozen years. Old age finally caught up with her. |
