Thinking about upgrading from my WRX. Wondering about the power results with the AWD M235i.

(it's not a M, just the M-sprts package)

I don't get why people are saying this, BMW built the car and put the M there because there M-division was involved with tuning the Adaptive (M) Sport Suspension - With electronically controlled dampers, exclusively tuned for the M235i

It's an M-Performance model as opposed to a full-on M.

It's not a 228i with a sport Package, it's unique to itself. Go head get a 228 with the M-sport package there is something missing, like 90HP & 75Tq from that screaming I6.
Remember when put up against the 1M its stats are slightly lower. If you tune the car 1M performance can be achieved.

So yes in my book you are still getting M-performance

In the end until the actual M2 comes out this is the closest you're gonna get to it.
To me (M) stands for More Money for BMW because they put a stiffer suspension in bigger wheels, more aggressive looking body panels and a tune. We could just do that ourselves.

FFS give it a rest about the badging.

Back on topic...op, I suspect your WRX has more tuning potential, but that is just my impression.

Until they update the engine in the WRX I would stay away from it. My friend had his piston ring issues at 62K they wear very quickly. He had to rebuild the engine & it's not cheap. Its a known issue with them. Also they are more expensive to mod compared to lets say an Evo X.

M235i XDrive is a beast. Not just from 0-60, but from 5-60,70,80,etc.

I had a 2011 STI and a 2012 WRX. I have a deposit down for an 235iXDrive(due in May) can' wait

Keeping my Evo X, and trading in the X1. I have to say the torque on our N55 X1 makes my FBO Evo X "feel" slow.

Recently test drove the M235i XDrive before putting down my deposit and it felt extremely torquey! I think I am just going to add a JB Stage 1+Remus catback and call it a day.

Ringland issues are an STI issue. Not WRX, especially the new 2.0L.
