I tested this and saw similar results:

Pull and hold left paddle + press throttle past click point == downshift from 6th to 3rd directly.

Another affirmative here thanks to the help. Tried this out on the highway - went from 8th @ 2k RPM to 4th at near red line with long pull left paddle and pushing the throttle sufficiently.

I do this all the time without hitting the left paddle at all (just using the throttle).
