I just coded the enhanced sound out of my 235i. Sweet relief from that baseless "noise".

Is there an option these days to code ASD to sound like M2 ?

Is probably same as for the M235 as engine code is also N55B30

but there is now one for the B58B30 for the M240 but might only work if you have the latest firmware...

On my M235i setting the model range to F020/F021 doesn't completely disable ASD but makes it less obvious. This combination with my M Performance Exhaust, DP & Performance Intake makes the car sound fantastic inside the cabin.

That's weird. I feel like mine is completely disabled. I forget what I actually set it to. i don't think it was that though. I wanna say that there's a 6 in the value. You're happy though and that's all that matters.

M235i with H/K to M3/M4 sound

Hello together,

I am bit desperate. I tried to change the ASD of my 2014 M235i into an M3 or M4 sound. I played around with all options (engine and power class, model range, country variant and so on). But nothing worked. With every combination the ASD is shutting off.

So, question is: Does anyone has an M235i with harman/kardon speaker system and managed to change the ASD sound into something more powerful than the stock ASD sound?

I hope you guys can help me.

Best regards from Germany.

Hi, I have a 2016 218d in the UK. My ECU is called HU_ENTRY NAV and shows different ASD options. For example under ASD_CONFIGURATION is only shows aktiv or nicht aktiv. Any ideas?

ASD Configuration is just a menu in your iDrive Display. For me and some others it had no effect. To change the sound you need the ASD ECU. So, it seems you have no ASD installed.

Ah man, thought it would be great having the V8 noise in my oil burner! Oh well, double checked and definitely no ASD ECU there

So to turn this fakery off you have to code a non-existent engine? Anyone successful in getting this shut off for delivery of a new vehicle?

I want to hear the noises my actual engine makes, not some BS "laugh track".

I used a physical cable bypass.

evilalien If the new car contains the ASD ECU you can code it, so ASD is shutting down. This works actually with any wrong combination of engine and car model. At a friends car the combination N55B30 – F001 shuts the ASD down.

Here's an easy way. I ran the V-8 version in my old RX-8 and it was awesome:

If you are an M purist (M2/3/4), I won't argue with you on what the M brand means to you, or whether or not creating the M235, et. al. is diluting the brand. I KNOW that M drivers modify their cars as much, if not more than M235 owners do, so saying that the fact that M235 owners modify their cars is evidence that they are not true M cars is a false statement.

In my opinion (and it's only that), BMW has been diluting their brand over the past decade by over engineering and bloating their cars, to include the M series variants, so the M235 is a return to what the M really stood for, high performance to weight ratio, and great driving characteristics. The M235 certainly offers all of those in spades. That is why I am OK with the M235 having the M emblem in front of it.

I've just taken ownership of a 218d. Do you know if this baby engine has ASD or not?

Don't think so. Get your hands on Carly or Esys to check. Or look if an ASD ECU is in your car. Can't just remember the location of the ECU. But others here will know.
