Considering it says you aren't old enough to drive, I'll tell you right now there's absolutely nothing easy or cheap about that kid.

You clearly have no idea how expensive a project like that is. Wow.

Unfortunately, I know that BMW are aware of what's going on in these forums, so I'll keep complaining to make my voice heard. No personal offense intended. I'm not disappointed with anyone but BMW.

So long as there are buyers willing to settle, BMW will be happy to take their money. It's a delicate balance. I'm glad there are people who don't care, because we need the M2 to sell in order for BMW to keep making it, but we also need to make noise about the things that don't make us happy.

They really should have put a m4 engine in this car. I think it's stupid that they reserve their more powerful engines for larger vehicles. If they could drop an s55 in a 2 series and dominate, why not do it? Or drop the m6 engine into the m4. Screw weight distribution!

I hear what you are saying and generally agree with your philosophy. If you are going to take that path, you have to be prepared to deal with the reaction from those who plan on buying the car regardless. You should keep us in mind when bashing our future purchases.

Honestly, they don't care about the complaining as long as the car sells.

We may reasonably assume that BMW ain't worried about selling all 10/11K first gen M2s.

If you don't care about weight distribution, then why even drive a BMW? That's one of their most important characters.

I'm not even going to bother answering why they don't do what you propose.

Buy a Cayman. Even a Base model will out handle it on a track and sound amazing especially if you spec a sport exhaust.

You are clearly not an engineer. I can't tell if you're joking.

The M4 engine in the M2 is a non-starter for a couple of reasons:

1) It's a much more expensive engine with two turbos and an air-water-air intercooler.

2) BMW have to protect the M4.

The only real possibility was an S20, which was shot down in a poll. I'll admit that I originally voted against an I4, but later changed my vote in favor. Personally, I'd rather have something like an S20 than an N55.

Maybe BMW will surprise us and pull the N54 turbos out of mothballs for the N55B30T0, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Ok. After configuring several different cars with the BMW configurator, I'm back looking at the M2. I don't want a four-door sedan, I don't want a big heavy M car or anything like that. I want something small, fun and fast.? And I'm not talking Porsche here. I will just have to wait and see what the 2016 options are.

It may not sound like much but it looks great and handles nicely.

For the estimated price this will be hard to argue.
