I'm wondering how hard would it be to engineer these structural braces in Carbon Fiber?

We could certainly make a similar brace in Carbon Fiber.

We have the ability to build something that is more attractive than the stamped steer version, and has a more sleek form factor. Likely, the thing to do would be to include aluminum reinforcement inside, to maintain a very high strength.

Such a project may be cost prohibitive, depending on what the market is willing to pay for a part like that, but it's absolutely possible.

I think it's worth investigating

It would drastically change the front crash/crush dynamics. I wouldn't want to take a chance. I like my limbs and feet to not get crushed in in a frontal crash.

I kinda sorta think those are there to enhance torsional stiffness. Crash resistance, not so much. They're conspicuously missing on the M235i.

I wondered the exact same thing? @IND what about just making a piece that fits on top of it?

It would be nice too if iND would offer a front lip for the M2.

In two versions, a carbon fiber one and a less expensive black gloss one.

A black anodized aluminum one would look cool. And cheaper too.

A better looking engine cover would be nice too. Just saying

They pulled these braces straight from the m235i vert for stiffness. You could make CF/Aluminum ones but it wouldn't improve anything other than cosmetics.

Come on Ilia@IND, you guys put a man on the moon (I think?)! Surely you can engineer these at an attractive price point. I'm tired of the M3/4 engine bay looking sexier than ours.

The big question I ask is….. Why? For lower weight, better safety, harder material or only for looks? Who cares how the engine bay looks? So strange that people are giving attention for something visual under their bonnet…

Looks. Apparently, I care how the engine bay looks. That is all.

A snap on cover would be great and cover the bolts as well. Very clean look.

An uniform carbon fiber piece should be stronger than the stock stamped piece of metal, no?

I like the cover idea, simple, effective, hides the bolts.

A CF appearance under hood package would be cool. Braces (or covers), cowl, hmmm... what else?
