Agreed. I've always felt that form follows function. If one is their car enjoying it, they can't see the exterior anyway. If a car does look anywhere near as good as it goes, then I see it as just an added bonus. The seemingly growing obsession with a car's looks, particularly as it pertains to an enthusiast brand like BMW, is a bit puzzling to me.
On another note, every recent and new luxury model to come out, including the Lexus IS, CLA and BMW f30, I have felt look significantly better in person than any picture on the internet or in a magazine has suggested.

Yeah, I have a 2010 135i with the PPK, SSK, and performance exhaust. I love it: 69,000 miles in 4.5 years. I test drove a M235i and did not find it as satisfying as my 135i. In fairness to the 235i, it was an automatic whereas mine is manual. The power was nearly identical, but the N54 twin-turbo feels a bit more raw & wild in its power whereas the 235i, assuming it's the N55, was smoother but less satisfying. I'd need to test drive a manual to have a better comparison. The cabin was a bit more spacious and the cockpit in the 2 is definitely improved. Will probably test drive it again just for a better sense of its possibility as a replacement for my 135.

Argh the reviewer said "blue and white propeller" at the end, referring to the roundel.

Notwithstanding that gaff, reasonable review and shows a car I'd be happy to have in my stable however I'd rather wait for the M2.

Hmm my car has 6 pot brakes and M suspension too.
Edit: Disregard my comment. I thought you were talking about the M235i.

6-piston?

I'm only aware of the 4-piston fixed front, 2-piston fixed rear setup (available as M Performance Brakes on the F30, M Sport Brakes on the F30, standard on the F80 M3, and standard on the M235i).

If your front calipers look like this, they're 4-piston fixed front calipers:

The e82 1 series has 6 pot brakes.

Oh he was speaking about the 135i?

I thought he was referencing the M235i. My mistake.

I saw the 2 series today for the first time. It was about 50-60 feet away from me (I could only see sides and front) - did not like the car at all. the same goes for the 4 series that stood next to it.
As I've mentioned this before, in my opinion, current generations of all BMW models just don't look well from afar. You get close to it, and you will enjoy the level of detail but from a small distance they are meh.

I think he was hinting that the 6 pot in the 135i are better so the M235i has "downgraded' brakes since they are 4 pot

They're nuts, that car is by no means hard to look at.
