Yes, my price range varies a bit but is within my budget. I'm not really a fan on the gts. Having little or no backseat it's still a M3 type car and Jack of all trades. It's too small for an only car and not as good as the gt3 in terms of secondary leisure ride. I love Porsche and nothing drives like a Porsche and love the gts but it doesn't make sense for me.

The GTS is nice if you want manual and a great performing vehicle but i feel the Cayman GT4 is the better car.

I don't think anyone is going to dispute that the GT3 is the better car. I'd have one tomorrow (for my daily driver) if I could swing one that was still in warranty.

I love my Cayman S, it's a nice car, but it not the visceral machine that the 911 GTS / S is. There's just something about the way the ass end of the car feels right before it's ready to give way - makes you want to press the pedal harder LOL. The Cayman doesn't do that, it's either sticks like glue or understeers at inconvenient times

We'll see when the GT4 comes out, but I still don't believe that Porsche is going to take the thunder away from their flagship. IMO Best case scenario is the GT4 = 911 GTS

Having owned the 996 X50 Turbo, Boxster Spyder and the GT3RS I can say I personally like the mid engine feel better. If you have driven any GT3 it is totally a different animal compared to the non GT cars. It drives and feel like a race car and other others feels like a street car. Yes, a street car can be one lap wonder faster but a track car runs without breaking down on the track and almost no one wants to use as daily driver. I would expect the same driving dynamics from the GT4. Very raw and very good to drive. It's like the RS7 may track faster than your Cayman S but who cares. It's not fun, nor pleasurable to drive on the track and probably wears the tires and brake out in no time.

Porsche GT cars are amazing. I'm predicting that it will be like a mid engine GT3 with a manual trans and less hp to slow it down. It wouldn't surprise me if they did change the suspension for this ride and it'll probably be awesome and hard to buy.

Just like my M3 maybe faster than the 1m but it wouldn't surprise me if the 1m driver better.

A slower, mid engine GT3 would be nothing like a GT3, right?

Right now, the fact that I can get a fully loaded mustang GT for 42k is pretty enticing.

I'm sure the M4 is faster then than the M2, but I'm hoping the M2 will drive better due to less weight and essentially the same tires and track.

Yeah, thats what I hate, you have to pay a stupid markup because its a BMW (or other higher level brand).

A loaded hyundai SNOTa has more crap than a 528 AND costs over 10k less.

Insane automobile world we live in.

Like I've said in multiple threads (and this won't apply to everyone) but go have a seat in one and you'll probably change your mind right away if the car you are looking at is an M2. And I'm not even talking about some interior parts that are pretty garbage that I could live with probably.

The car is massive. Like old 6 series kind of big. I have 0 desire for that kind of car at the moment so the Mustang went off the list as soon as I sat in one. Didn't even bother test driving.

Pretty much what happened to me:

^ I wish Ford had a 1M-sized mini-Mustang on the market. Consider that from the driver's seat the C7 feels like a very large car, with the front end terminating somewhere off-planet - and it's still almost a foot shorter than the new Mustang. I have yet to sit in the new Mustang but the 2014 flavour felt ridiculously big (and it's got a nasty front-overhang problem to boot).

You should try the Focus RS when it's out. I just hope it drives like the Fiesta ST with AWD.

Well I just got to drive a 2014 Ferrari FF and that might sway me a little if it wasn't for the $360,000+ price tag. LOL

I couldn't afford the maintenance on one of those never mind the car. How's the back seat, can you get a car seat in there? LOL

Definitely watching developments there, especially if it gets a new rear-biased AWD system.

Seriously, you could buy a used e46 for the cost of the first maintenance on that thing. And actually there is a surprising amount of room in the back.

And a few more with the F-car resale value hit.

I think it needs at least 400hp, needs to be lighter than the m235I, carbon fiber roof, needs heads up display. If not id rather buy something else.

I think each new performance model should benefit from the latest available weight savings and safety technology.
Instead, BMW will bitch out and give us a slightly better M235i as to not jeopardize it's bigger siblings.
A lack of a bespoke engine is a big deal.
High starting price is a big deal.
Lack of standard cloth or alcantara seats is a big deal.
Let's hope we are not terribly disappointed, just disappointed...

Id have to guess a 52k starting price but with less options.

If it doesn't have a CF roof thats alright but understandable
If it doesn't have DCT then BMW is shooting them selves in the foot
It should at the least have heated seats or navi standard (m3/4 do over their series counterparts)
Id bet HP in the 375 range to differentiate from the m3/4
I also bet it will have heads up display.

Honestly, BMW could go either way with this. Either they will make a decently priced car that is enthusiast/performance driven orr they come out with a slightly better optioned m235i and call it a day.

ANYTHING but this!
Definitely don't want the extra weight of this in my car. Hell no.
My car must throw up when I try fill the tank, same way the e46 CSL did

We can probably coexist on this issue.
There should be a "performance" trim with further weight reductions.
Those of us that will DD the car do need some creature comforts.
I'm going fully loaded and would love to have heated AND ventilated seats + heated steering.

BMW could satisfy all by offering two types of M2:
  • 2015: a more daily driver oriented "regular" M2 that can be loaded with all bells and whistles;
  • 2016/2017: a more track oriented M2 CSL or M2 GTS with more lightweight materials and limited options.
I am convinced that someday an M2 CSL or M2 GTS will see the light. As the M2 will remain rather affordable (best bang for the buck) compared to similar cars with the same performance and the M2 car size is ideal for achieving excellent road dynamics (there is potential to push it further into M3 territory), there's definitely a niche market for an M2 pocket rocket.
