Available Flash Tunes
I've been seeing a lot of threads popping up about finally being able to unlock the DME through the OBD port. Does that mean that MHD and Cobb will be releasing their stuff soon? Or are the only flash tunes still going to be Bootmod3 and AA?

MHD is still in beta.. It works pretty easy with an Android device and the Bimmergeeks Pro Cable. https://www.bimmergeeks.net/product-...eeks-pro-cable
I'm sure in a few more weeks it will finally go public and get released. If you have a JB4 currently, BMS is working on a BEF that works with the JB4 (also in beta) that will provide some additional support to people that want to stack tune (Flash + JB4). This tends to be for the big turbo guys that want to run over 20 psi that need some additional handling on the boost target side. The BEF is still flashed with the MHD app, there is a "backend flash" option to load any 4k bin. So it's very simple as well to flash. (2-3 minutes to change flashes). Updated for FSociety Yes, the initial stage 0 flash is about 23 minutes If your worried about flash counters, blah blah, there is no full readout/backup and reversal with OBD Flashes. It matters to some. Regardless of BM3 or OBD flashes, in the event of an engine failure, I'm sure BMW can figure it out OBD is just more convenient when you understand what it is. The MHD maps are still a work in progress, and some of the other bells and whistles like turning off cat code, exhaust burble settings, MAF code, etc... Are still present. I am getting mass air flow too high on MHD and BMS BEF maps still, and I am running the stock intake. A few tables that still need to be discovered and tuned. If you want the best tune, you need someone that knows their shit. Does multiple dyno runs, analyzes logs, adjusts map, dynos, analyze logs, adjusts flash tables, rinse & repeat.... These OTS maps will always be conservative. Last edited by zipphreak; 02-02-2018 at 02:42 PM.. |

Currently participating in the MHD beta.
My car is flashed with the 2+ tune for 91 octane. It is my impression that the MHD tunes will go public within a month. |

World's First Fxx Custom Tuning Platform works on iOS, Android and Mac & Windows 1min 28s Flash Now for MHD zipphreak you forgot to mention you need that $50+ cable (outdated technology) that doesn't do a Full Backup of your stock file or half. And the first flash takes minimum 25 minutes; so you would need a Battery Tender as well.

BM3 seems to be the way to go if you want the best tune, care about reversibility, like customer service, want proper support, etc. Stay away from unproven and beta options for now.
If you're truly interested in any of these tuning solutions, start reading up on all the threads on the boards and join FB groups so you can get a better feel from current users. |

I emailed Cobb this afternoon. The response back was that they have no plans to support the N55. Maybe R&D is hush hush and they wouldn't tell us if they are working on it, but that was the response.

So I ran into 2 guys with an M4 and M5 and they both had ESS Tuning badges in their car.
I talked to them for a bit and they've had the tune for the last 3-4 yrs. They've had no problems and were vey happy with their tunes. They didn't know too much about the OBD flashing so I went on the ESS website and I found this: I copy and pasted this from their website. "ESS N55 F series E-Flash Stage 1 ECU software is a result of extensive testing and exact calibration of ECU parameters to allow significant performance gains on a stock or lightly modified car (intake/exhaust/IC). The Stage 1 software is developed and tested in extreme heat in the Arizona desert as well as extreme cold temperatures in Scandinavia. Typical gains are in the 40-45whp range. Catless exhaust option available upon request. The E-Flash N55 software is a full OBD2 solution that does not require sending in the ECU or opening the ECU in any way." So is this an OBD flash option for our cars??? |

Interestingly, I just found this article posted today from PTF that says they have released an OBD unlocker for BM3: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1463379

also pointing out the obvious...
If you are not going to be switching maps, already have a way to log, and don't really care about hype, sending your DME out for flash with one map is still a very good option. You can probably save money this way as well. That being said, i would probably go the bm3 route as they have the time invested. I'd never put anything Cobb on a bmw ever again after the issues caused on my n54 335, and MHD are usually a little too conservative for me.

I would have sent mine to Enzo but the price held me back. I will likely go Bootmod3 for remote flash due to pricing. Spring can't come soon enough. Anyone else looking to enter the Beta with Bootmod3.?

Yes, I think with the addition of unlocking from home, I will finally pull the trigger on BM3. Maybe they can set up a group buy for all the new customers???

Active Autowerke is available
MHD and BM3 are still testing. Cobb has not posted anything about a tune for F chassis BMW.
