2018 230i No AM radio?!?!?

Turned in my '15 228i 6MT today & picked up an '18 230i 8AT

(Left knee replacement soon, next car WILL be an MT). Went into radio settings, no AM. WTF. Salesman came out, he couldn't find it either. AM/FM button on dash does nothing. A 30K+ car w/no AM? Gotta be shitting me! Or is it a build defect?

Yah, sorry. BMWs don't install radios with AM any more.
That's pretty well known. You should have done more research up front.

It's not a dealbreaker. I can stream it through my phone. But why still have an AM/FM button? Do they have a warehouse full of them or something?

FM: Foreign Music

When did this happen? My 2016 235 has AM, FM and Sirius/XM. While I don't us AM often, it has some local sports talk not available on FM, and all major US cities still have iconic high power AM stations - Louisville WHAS 840, Cincinnati WLW 700, Chicago WGN 720, WBBM 780, WLS 790, etc., etc.

Don't most of your AM stations of HD repeaters anyway? Can't you find them on their partner FM primary?

I have to be honest, this is a shocker to me if it's true.

I listen to much more AM than FM in the car, mainly WFAN 660 AM out of NY. WFAN is a sports talk station (world's first 24-hour sports talk radio station according to Wikipedia). Besides sports talk, they also have exclusive broadcast rights to NY Yankees, NY Giants, NJ Devils, Brooklyn Nets, and NYC FC games.

I also still listen to Imus in the Morning on WABC 770 AM from NY.

I'd have to get some aftermarket solution if no AM was offered.

See below from the BMW genius app. According to the app, your car does have the AM radio band. I note that the i3 does not have AM radio.

AM means morning, and radio is a modern tire design. check your car in the AM to see if it has radios.

in all seriousness, I can't not remember the last time I listened to terrestrial radio in/on any device, let alone in the car, all Sirius for over 10 years, and streaming Amazon Music or Spotify for the last year or so.
