Seat adjustments?

Hi have a loaner 230i for a few days while my car is in for service. I think the seats are broken? They aren't fully power, but there is one button that looks like it will more seat forward/backward, but I just hear the motor humming and nothing moves. Seat is stuck in fully rear position.

Also, are the bolsters adjustable? They are incredibly tight. None of the levers are helping there.

Anything I'm missing here?

Thanks

That's the lumbar width adjustment. You'll feel it working just above your kidney area.

You have manual seats; that lumbar adjustment is the only power adjustment on those seats. Fore-aft adjustment is the long metal lever under the very front of the seat. Reach down and pull upward to adjust.

The only bolsters that are adjustable are the upper leg bolster (adjusts for length; adjustment button is a rectangular button just under the front center of the bolster) and headrest. Other adjustments are seatback angle, seat height, and seat yaw. That's really about it.

I have manual seats in my 2016. GREAT seats, easy to adjust...NOTHING to break, burn out whatever.

Getting the power seats is probably the only regret I have - not even a real first world problem I guess. I set 'em so seldom, and it saves weight. Probably get some of it back at trade in, if I ever let her go.

I haven't had manual seats since the early 80s. I have a vw with power seats. For a loaner i had a car with manual seats. Almost threw my back out reaching down to adjust the seat.

Manual seats are great if you have only one regular driver. You can set it just right and forget it. In my case, my wife drives the car a few times a week and she is SHORT so power with memory is a must. Same with her X3.
The greatest feature of my old 325 was that there were THREE memory settings, but the kids are out of the house now, so two is OK.
I looked at a GTI a few years ago and it had no driver's seat memory. Nix on that!

Viffermike, you're right. Finally found the forward/backward lever and the power button on the side did also loosen up the side bolsters enough to fit in. Thanks!
