Goodbye VW Beetle TDI Hello BMW 230i

Well it's finally happening. My TDI is being bought back on December 27th and I am picking up my 230i vert on the 29th. I have been waiting for this day since September '15 and hope I like the new car.

Make no mistake - you will love the difference! Rear-wheel drive and gas instead of diesel power, plus superior handling. Nice choice!

They're heavy.. I'd grab a Golf 1.8/2.0 if you're interested in a FWD econo/euro car. They're cheap to fix and great on fuel, and they handle well in snow.

Nice upgrade

It may seem silly but one of the things I appreciate most between VW and BMW (There are many) are the seats

VW is really dragging arse on their review of docs.....its not like they didnt have more than 6 mos to plan for this and staff accordingly

Not only did they drag their feet on buy backs, they also had morons on the phones giving useless information about resolving this situation. I will never purchase a VW again after the way they treated us.

Congrats! I had a 2015 Leased A3 TDI that was part of the settlement...I ordered my 230i coupe for ED back in July for October ED and Nov/Dec redelivery thinking at the time that the diesel would probably be gone around that time...and that worked out just about perfectly! The diesel went back on 12/16 and the BMW arrived at my dealer on 12/17! This is my 4th BMW coupe and I am soooo happy to be back.

TBH though, I really cannot complain about the Audi. Those TDIs are really great little engines. Seats were terrible though. VW/Audi kind of got screwed, but I'll take their money. Congrats and ENJOY!!!

2012 Jetta TDI gets turned in Feb 9. As already stated VW has morons on phone giving incorrect information. Took VW over 6 weeks to finalize completion of documents. Then had to have other documents they sent notarized, and then wait another 6 weeks for an appointment to turn in the car. Such BS. In the meantime got a great deal on a 2016 M235i Cabriolet. I am enjoying the hell out of it, and can't wait for top down weather. And, I have another 4 weeks to teach my youngest son how to drive a manual in the VW. Better than him crunching gears in the Porsche!

Cool! Similar situation here. I still have an A3 TDI and a Golf TDI - both 2012 and both going back this summer (Settlement process slower in Canada...)
Already ordered an M240 convertible for myself, and looking at either the A3 etron or the 330e as a replacement for my wife. Both are plugin hybrids that would also give us access to driving alone in the HOV lanes (part of daily commute).

I drove the eTron and almost got one...it's a great little car...I just had to have the BMW feel back and the timing of the whole return process made ED much easier to do.

I'm right there with you on the dropping the TDi for a 230i.

I bought my 2015 Golf Sportwagen TDi one week to the day before the news broke on Dieselgate. Now I'm awaiting the arrival of my 230i M-sport w/6 speed and can't be more excited.

I'm the complete opposite. I sold my Jetta tdi a few weeks before the news broke about the scandal for a 2015 m235i, I kick myself everyday seeing some of the payments you guys are getting. I feel like anyone that owned a tdi during the period should get some
Sort of compensation. I owned a 2010 and a 2012 Jetta tdi and I'm getting nothing. I did love that car though.

Sorry to hear you sold your TDI just prior to scandal. It sure is less painful turning in my 2012 Jetta TDI knowing it paid for almost half of my new M235i. Never again will I buy a VW product unless it's a Lambo or Porsche.

Yea, this wasn't my first bad experience. So, I'm pretty much done with VAG products. Always seemed to get screwed!

Look at it this way. You probably got a good price for your TDI before the scandal hit. The values tanked after the news broke, and we owners were forced to keep our cars from 9/15-12/16 until we could get rid of our cars. In fact, my car went off warranty 6 months ago and I was without a warranty until VW bought it back and my new BMW arrived. It all works out somehow in the end.

Good choice. I have a 16 228ix and love it. I sold my 03 Wrangler for it. Talk about a contrast. Got all wheel drive but I don't think it will do well on the beach.
