Rear fog light failed a week after delivery. Had the dealership replace it but it has died again. I think the actual housing/wiring may be loose.

Haven't had time to take it back, so will probably do it at the first service.

Other than too much wind noise at speed and the output of the headlights, things are going great.

Really? I've found it to be very quiet compared to my other cars.

It was very quiet when I bought it but is now noisy enough to be an irritation.

How many miles and which tires are on the car? Also, if it's cold where you car, cars tend to be a bit noisier and more NVH in general.

Robert Willis Exactly. As tires wear they become more noisy, and as temperatures drop they become more noisy. Same with creaks and such in the interior. Why? Because rubber and plastic have viscosity just like oil and water does, and the lower the temperature, the lower the viscosity.
Things that are normally soft and pliable get harder and less pliable.

Most trouble free BMW i've had. 7,900 miles in 17 months and no service needs, other than annual service.

I love the car.

Nothing major so far. Nearing 23k miles in 18 months. I did have warped rotors half a year ago (from 2 track days) but BMW replaced it under warranty without question.

Took my car in as well for "drivetrain malfunction" one night. BMW said it was an engine misfire, nothing needed to be replaced/fixed.

No troubles since and no recurring issues.

So I should treat the rubber around the window with some sort of rubber sealant/lubricant?

I had a dash rattle that developed within 16k miles. Dropped the car off at the dealer and they fixed it. I've never had a problem with anything else. Well, sometimes when I connect my iphone through usb it spazzes out, but that's because iOS 10 is absolute crap.

You should search for the thread where ppl are adding the missing weather stripping to the inside of the doors.

16,000 miles and mostly trouble free until this week. Right rear Continental run flat developed slow leak. Brought it for repair and Continentals cannot be repaired. So $400 for two new tires. Switched to Bridgestone run flats which can be repaired and got repair or replace warranty.

Lubricating the rubber seals will do nothing except leave lubricant on your windows. It's a matter of physics: the rubber gets less pliable as the temperature goes down. You just gotta live with it.

Sure the rubber maintains it stiffness at lower temps however, the proper seal lube quiets the creaky door seals. As for window seals & quiet -- I have seen the additional rubber door seal (found on diesel models) which can be retrofitted to petrol cars.

You only have to live with what you tolerate!

2 years in and 16.7 k. pretty much problem free, except warps rotors around 15k. no hard driving, just occasional spirited drives.

Yesterday the driver side window electronics failed. It is supposed to lower the window about 1/2 inch, you shut the door, then it raises the window back up, well the door will not even shut now unless I lower the window myself, which poses a problem when you are getting out of the car. Anyway, it is going to be dropped off tomorrow.
Last fall I had a cooling fan fail. Got all sorts of warnings about shutting it down right away etc. so I had to call and get roadside assistance to pick it up.
One day the battery died out of the blue, not sure whether that was "operator error"
Had to replace a run-flat about 9 months after I bought it.
Got hailed on, got that fixed, looks good as new.
Shined it all up the other day and took it to a bike ride where another older BMW owner was present, she commented on my awesome car
I am still thinking maybe I want an arctic blue ZL1 in 2018 but the BMW has a hitch and a bike rack!

The really nice thing about the BMW is the 4 year warranty, my car is fixed but I have to get the diagnosis tomorrow. Briefly service advisor said I need to start it more often in times that I am exclusively driving my Colorado. At least that was the initial theory, the battery starts going low and the comfort features are shut off? But I drive it 40 miles too the dealer so the battery should have been charged back up. He said the battery is ~ $400?
Had a hernia fixed today so not driving anything for a few days!

What was the issue with the drivers window and what was the fix?

They put a new battery in and did the electronics reset. I bought in late 2015 so kind of soon for a battery fail, but they warrantied it. Schomp has been a good shop for me. They suggested I get a battery tender for extended bad weather periods where I drive my Colorado exclusively. They are driving it over to me just after lunch.

28K km is a joke! My beater car is an '07 Camry and I've got 250K miles on it.. Yes a 1/4 million miles and out side of basic maintenance, the only thing it needed as an O2 sensor.

I've run Jeeps, Rams and Fords to over 200K miles too... For me a reliable car is one where I consistently hear of people going 200K miles with basic maintenance. Any new car these days should get 100K miles.. If not, it's not engineer and/or built well.

I'm looking to get my 1st BMW and the reliability is what's scaring me the most. My friends that have or had them all seem to have had small issues like wiper and or window motor problems. None have told me they were stranded on the side of the road, but they've all also gotten rid of their cars once 100K miles hits.. They get terrified for some reason of crossing 100K miles on a BMW. I don't understand why..
