Jackstand Placement

Where do you guys put your jack stands?

When I jack up the car from one side I use the area that people say to put the jack stand (the spot with the hockey puck insert)... I don't really see any other solid area to be putting the stand...

Engine subframe area at the LCA joints, rear control arm mounting points (inner). Worked well on my last detailing job.

If you do a search, there is a thread with a nice picture of the front center spot, and info that you can use the diff (the actual carrier, not the diff cover).

For me it was money well spent.

I use a QuickJack now and don't have to worry about jack stands anymore. It has to be the best car-related investment I've ever made. It's portable, stows under the car (not ZO6) and raises a car up in just a minute or two. It has mechanical safety locks and is solid as a rock.

You really got me wanting this quickjack. I've got a pickup that weighed in at just over 8200lbs empty, do you think the 7000 model can lift it? Do you think the 7000 model will be ok with the 2 series or even a Vette?

I think the 7000 Model means rated for 7000 pounds. That makes your truck 1200# heavy, doesn't it - hoping you wouldn't seriously consider getting under something that was this far over load limit, but it's your funeral.

These look pretty trick if you've got the cash. Sadly I'll stick with my DIY wood ramps

Our QuickJack is a 5000 SXL model, rated for a 5000 lb max lift. The BMW and Vette are each around 3500 lbs, well within the limits. Nearly every friend that he's seen it in action has purchased one for themselves.

I watched a video of the 7000 where it had 16K+ lbs on it. They didn't show it lifting, but it will hold a lot of weight.. I figure if it can like my truck, I really shouldn't have an issue with it coming down... I'm just wondering how much over they can lift, since holding weight is different.
