Arrow Just your average German BMW dealership!

BMW Zentrum Sinsheim

Just your average German BMW dealership!

Hey Guys,

So… this past Monday I decided to take a nice road trip to go see HockenheimRing Musuem and then later drive onwards to Nuerburgring. I decided to stop by Sinsheim bc I wanted to pick up a few books at the Sinsheim Musuem and also bc I knew there was a Esso gas station there – where I could buy tax free gas via my Esso card.

Long story short… after refueling with SuperPlus 98, as soon as I started the engine my “service engine soon” light came on! I was a little bit pissed. I had changed the engine oil the night before (first BMW oil service is due in 6K kms)… so I knew the oil was ok. I quickly checked the oil level, and scrolled thru the B.C. menu. Nothing wrong. Just this dam yellow “service engine soon” light!

I decided to drive down the street to the marvelous Sinsheim Technik Musuem to brose their gift shop. I wanted to pick up some books there. But then I remember seeing this BMW Zentrum (aka dealership) down the street. So… I decided to pop in and ask them what they thought the problem was.

The service advisor was nice enough, but I could tell he did not know what was wrong. He was nice enough to read my car key for any hard faults. None were present. He then went into BS S.A. mode (it’s the same crap you guys experience but I get to hear it in German!) lol Well.. he went on saying that it is probably just my low oil light and nothing major. He then walked me to my car and was going to show me the low oil light. I tried telling him the oil was FINE. But the Germans are a stubborn people. Lol Once he saw the SES light, he said… Ohhh that is NOT normal! Really!?!?!? :“) He then introduced me to this nice master tech and this guy knew his BMW’s. He said just to wait fifteen minutes while he finished working on the car he had in his service bay, and then he would read the fault menu.

Twenty minutes later he returned my car with the light off. Turns out the gas cap was slightly loose… causing the SES light to come on. That Esso gas station was literally just A few hundred meters down the road. I felt pretty dumb! He said it could be the gas cap filler neck module… but I should wait and see if the light comes back on. Three tanks of gas later no SES light.  He was also very thorough and told me of that seatbelt insulation recall that effects my car. I told him I was going to take care of that next month when I have the BMW one year service done. 

Anyway… why I am posting any of this… WELL…. This dealership had some NICE cars on display! And I mean NICE!!! Like they could have their own museum!!!

Have a look for yourself!

I did a little bit a research on the web… seems the owner KRAUTH owns several BMW dealers in that part of Germany. Not only in Sinshiem but also is: Heidelberg, Mosbach, Meckesheim, Wallsdorf, Hockenheim.

OMFG! I miss being in Germany so much now thank you! LOL

The other cars are nice and all, but I would kill for a 2002ti in that condition.
Classic Bimmers are where it's at! Here's mine...

Nice post and thank you very much for the pics, that is one hell of a dealership.

Project1,
its cool that you have a new bimmer and a classic one too! What I really like about German dealers is that they are so organized in parking the various car models. Like all the cars are groupe by model and engine size. All the 116i's then the 118i's, ect. Diesels to the right.... benzine to the left! Most dealers even have little parking signs with model type class too.

There is a big MB dealer in BA that has these yellow city signs (you know when you enter a new town/city) with the model names on them. It is a huge dealership with a few hundred MB parked all over. They even sell MB trucks & buses and taxis too!

take care,
David

That dealership is about an hour from me.

I would love to see some of these cars in person, especially an M1. I need to check out the BMW Museum here soon!

My dealer here has an Isetta in the showroom with its original window sticker. Nothing compared to that dealership though.

Great pics David!

I was very interested in seeing the cutaway pics of the runflat tire vs. the standard so I could get an appreciation of just how rigid the runflat is. Did you take any pics from the side that would give a sectional view of the tire?

As always, thanks for the great pics!

Sorry Ian, I did not even think about taking a side pic while snapping my photos. The two salesman in that new car showroom were giving me the once over for taking so many pics. Esp for taking pics of the prices of each model car on display. lol :")

I did touch and press down in the middle of those cut up tire profiles. The normal tire was really flimy while the runflat (right side) was very hard/stiff. I will check this coming week at my local BMW dealer... I bet they might have the same runflat tire model.

I grew up just outside of Heidelberg, and that's the place my dad and my uncle usually bought their cars from!
Thanks for the memories. Been to that dealership Krauth many times as a kid.

Thanks David. You hear so many people mentioning what a big difference the normal tires make in the ride\handling of the car that I believe I will be pulling the trigger on some very soon. I picture the RFT's as pretty much solid rubber tires with a shallow air pocket between the tire and rim to give a little compliance. I would be very interested to see what a sectional view looks like if you can find that same display at your local dealer,

Love the M1 especially the color. But I don't know what BMW design was thinking with 2 emblems on each side, a little bit of overkill on that.

Dackelone, your photographs are to your usual standard, and the story is of interest to anyone in NA. I like that you have published the price of the motor oil - many people may find it instructive. I hope you have liked the Ferrari domination at the Hockenheimring.
