Keif-

This car has all the sound I will need from within the cock pit. It probably has a little more interior sound than your 335is (which stock is pretty great inside and out) The power is going to be similar to your IS if yours has DCT. THE M235 may have a bit more low end grunt and the 335is may pull harder at the top. Hard to remember, I test drove a 335is a couple of years ago. Suspension and settings will go again to the m235.

Of course the M3/4 question is tough.
THe M cars are bigger and we'll M cars. They will smoke this car hands down. The e92 M3 is a different story. But if you want to save some funds and have a fun compact pocket rocket the M235 is the way to go. One of the things that I like best about this in-line six with the PPK is that it has so much low-end torque. This car would easily best My M3 from 0 to 50 with a lot less drama. Sure I could use launch control on the M3 and probably beat the M235, but now I'm causing a lot of attention to be focused my way.

The biggest difference between the M235 and your car is that you get more electronic goodies with the M235 giving you more control over your vehicle. Very similar to what M cars used to exclusively have.

So are the exhaust tips black or is it just a dark chrome that looks that way because of lighting? I can never tell from pictures

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely looking forward to test driving one and seeing how it compares to my 335is. However, I'm a bit worried it might be somewhat too similar to my current 3er. In part, depending on how pathetic the M3/4 residuals will be may help with my decision making.

How does the dash feel? Did you feel all around? Is it hard plastic like the 1 series or more of a soft touch dash like the 3 series?

Oh and regarding the steering, this is how I see it, the recent best was my M3 followed by active steering from my 2011 E90. Next would be the M235 followed by the 4 series with DHP and last 3 series standard.

Unfortunately, the reality is hydraulic steering is gone and at some point most of us will forget about it after living with EPS for a number of years. And as all the competitors going to EPS you'll be less able to compare, but eventually they will improve and maybe they'll even surpass what we were used to with the hydraulic. I have to say the steering was very sharp very precise. Yes road feel was a little limited but it didn't annoy me in the way that the 3 series did. I'm not sure if I'm just getting used to it, or excepting it but it's not any kind of dealbreaker, at least for me.
Did you had a chance to post your video on YouTube?
I can not wait to see it!

The exhaust tips look to be more of a black chrome.

The dash is very nice and soft and not shinny. The texture or fake leather grain like on most dashboards seems to be coarser than what I have in my E90. There's not much in the way of hard plastics except for your the glove box. Of course you have more hard plastic around the shifter and the lower half of the doors but all in all it looks looks nice.

Haven't gotten around to the videos yet I'll try that soon nothing too exciting mostly just a walk around for those guys that want to see mineral gray.

In Chris Harris' review of the M135, he says everything above "testicle height" is pretty nice and soft plastic.

When I was in the M235 in Chicago, I would echo that general statement - everything that you touch often is nice. The plastic in the gear shifter area is pretty hard and relatively cheap - but I believe that is the case on the 3er as well.

Just my $.02

Unfortunately I think you may be a bit underwhelmed with this car compared to the 335IS don't get me wrong it's a great car but I really like the looks and interior of the IS and I think that motor with the DCT is pretty phenomenal.

It's a fortunate place to be to have to make a decision about so many wonderful options

Thanks for posting this review. I'm looking forward to a test drive...has not arrived at my dealer yet. Considering picking one up while waiting for the M3 to settle in and/or an M2 to arrive (hopefully).

In person I didn't see any purple hue on the mineral gray. I will say that it does appear a little bit lighter than most of the mineral grays that I've seen on other series.

I was just looking at the pics again (man the MG looks nice) and noticed something in the dash pics--is there ever anything directly below the rev counter? Analogous to where the fuel gauge is?

It looks sort of empty and not symmetrical???

If you get the technology package, you get the extended instrument cluster (option 6WA)

I believe in europe you can get it as a standalone option for 150 euros

Double-check because you might already have it: my guess is that it only shows in eco mode.

I will definitely check - I just would have thought there would have been another analog gauge there of some kind ??

It just looks weird like that
