Exclamation VIDEO GUIDE - Instaling USDM Lower Grille Inserts.

It’s the little things that make the difference. Ever since the first time I saw a US Delivered M235i, I thought the front end looked much cleaner without the blades in the grilles.

It turns out you can buy the genuine part relatively cheaply on eBay, so I decided to have a crack at it!

The clips do require quite a bit of force to release and it’s quite scary the first time you do it, however it’s much easier once you know where all the clips are, so hopefully this video will be a big help!.

Please make sure you use quality pry tools which are nice and soft so you don’t damage your paintwork.

Genuine part numbers: 51118056797 + 51118056798

Here's my DIY Video.....

That's funny - when the car first launched US guys were going nuts trying to source the blade version.

Agree look better without though.

Nice clear DIY video on the lower grilles. I would love to do the opposite - switch the plain mesh for the ones you removed with horizontal bars. If you are interested in selling yours, please let me know.

I'd be happy to sell them but it would probably be cheaper to buy new ones off ebay or from a local dealership. Shipping from Australia to the USA isn't cheap.

It's human nature to want what you don't have. lol. It's been the same with just about every car I've owned. USA guys wanting the bits from the euro versions and vice versa.

As it happens, no such grilles on eBay, and BMW won't sell them in US market. I realize shipping would be expensive but still would like to buy if you are willing to sell. Let me know, maybe we can work out a price.

What's the part number for the bladed version of the grilles? Surely, it's got to be sold online somewhere.

Get the P/N from Real OEM and order them from schmiedmann. I ordered from them blacklines tail lights form my former 135 and euro tail lights for my current M235, great place to get those EU parts.

Yeah, you would think so, but so far I haven't found any. I see a number for US version on real oem, but don't know euro version number. I did send an enquiry to schmeidmann as suggested. Awaiting their reply.

If someone in the UK took theirs off, there should be a sticker on there with the part number somewhere.

The us ones have partial holes at both sides for the two coolers. The one's with the blades only have a partial hole at one side, the other side is completely blocked.

Is that the case for ALL bladed ones, though? IIRC, certain US models don't have openings on both sides.

All m235s in us have a cooler on either side.

The bladed ones only come with it partially open on one side, completely closed on the other.

Other models, I'm not sure of, but if you want the blades on an m235, some dremmel work may be needed.
