Xdrive fitment - how wide can I go?

Have been looking at some 18x8.5" ET38 w/ 235/40-18 PS4s which should fit fine on my 17' M240i x-drive.

Question is, can I go to a 18x9" ET42 to run 245/35-18s without camber plates or rolling fenders and not rub?

I'm on stock (w/M adaptive) springs still, but have been considering H&Rs or Dinan. Currently running 15mm spacers all around on stock wheels with MPSA/S3+ in 225

I'd say if you don't want to run camber plate to acheive higher camber and don't want to roll fenders. 245 tires with a 40 offset is probably your best best, 38 offset might clear and 42 will be pretty close to the strut.

I am running 235 45 17 and will be running 245 40 17 next season on 40 offset wheels.

Do you think putting the 245 on an 8.5" rim will be likely to cause any bowing or impact sidewall stiffness? Mainly looking for more grip

From my understanding and experience 245 on a 8inch rim is fine put not the best for handling and steering feel. On a 9 inch rim it will perform the best and have the best feel but at the expense of comfort/harshness.

on a 8.5 it should be in the middle. If I could of got my wheels in 8.5 thats what I would of chose..

I think it will clear the fender but it might not clear the strut in the front. Try to search google and the forums for ppl with similar setups

I'm running 19X9.5" ET42 with a stretched 245/30/19 PS4. Not lowered, but tons of room for a drop. I'm pretty sure I could even fit a 255.

The 9 ET42 is likely to contact the strut in front. By the time you add a spacer large enough to clear the suspension, you're going to need camber plates and/or fender modification.

I am also aiming for a 245 18" square setup, which i planned to fit on some V703 8.5j ET40.
Planned to drop the car by a bit with a KW V1, but not to much. Wonder if it fits with stock camber.

I know that it fits with an 8j wheel ET40, but not sure about an 8.5j width. Any experiences?

No issues with hitting the strut upfront on the xdrive?
