I don't really care about the power to be 100% honest. If they didn't release the M2, I would have been pretty happy with an M235i. But if you add the brakes and suspension from the M3/4, I would have already been happy enough to pull trigger on it, depending on price of course. If an M2 with LED, HK and metallic paint comes to within $5k of a stripper M3, I'd have to consider the M3 as well. Especially considering it would have been out for a few years and deals can be had I'm sure (or even buy lightly used).

Because although the Z28 is stripped of a lot of normal equipment, is filled with expensive racing bits. It's in a different league. You pay for performance, and it performs like a beast. The GT350 may come close to the Z28's numbers but it will be slower. At least it is expected to.

As far as Mustangs (and Fords in general) go, I like it. I'm just not an American car guy unless it's a Viper (I know they aren't as good as C7 Vettes, but I grew up liking the first gen).
- It's not for me though. I have a hard time believing that the car (aka top of the line Mustang until GT500 comes?) will cost less than a base Corvette so it'll most lilkely be out of my budget - It's too physically big. If I'm getting a car that big, it might as well be practical and have 4 doors IMHO - The interior isn't all that great, nothing like the C7, but I could live with it - I'm looking for nimble and fun, rather than an all out monster. - Must get good gas mileage. Apart from my E36, my E92 and 4Runner don't get more than 17 mpg combined. - Not the most important thing I guess, but my next car to replace the E36 will most likely be my first new car ever (and custom ordered). I really really love the idea of doing European Delivery and PCD. I want it to be special, so I would love to do that mass ED if at all possible So yea, sorry for the long post, but that's what I'm more or less looking for. If anyone else can think of what car fits those criteria, I'm all ears

Having said that, I'm not ruling out keeping the e36. With the money I'd save from not getting an M2, I could turn into a hell of a monster. Guess we'll see what happens |

Keep the e36 and sell the e92.
e92s are still a dime a dozen and you will keep finding them all over for years to come, e36s are a rarity worldwide in good condition that is. |

The reason I like the idea of the M2 is because it's kind of similar to an E36 and E46, so it's kind of a 1/1 replacement. Besides, as you said, E36s in excellent condition are getting harder to find. I can drive it for another 2 years, and sell it for a profit most likely, since Techno Violet is a hard to find and very desirable color. That $$$ would go straight into whatever car I pick for its replacement.

I'm starting to doubt the price will be where I want it.
A loaded M235xi is about 53 thousand... How is the M2 going to start below that. Ugh. I'm thinking it will start around 56K. |

Another reason why I think the M2 will start in the very low 50s, maybe even $49.5k: CLA45AMG starts at $47450. BMW is not going to price it a whopping $10k more than its direct rival IMHO. Keep in mind we are talking about a base car (which for all I care, is probably good enough for me). I have no doubt that you can load an M2 up to $56k if you really wanted to.

As the car is smaller than the M3/M4, I would also add the lack of roof rack anchor points ( like in the M3/4 ) with CF roof would nix it for me.

I certainly won't be getting an M2 if it's anywhere near as lousy a driver's car as the current M3 (at least according to a few British publications - check out this scathing review:

The more I wait for new spy shots, the less decisive I am about what I'm going to get next. If anything, I'm waiting for my e36 to be fixed and already missing it way more than I expected. |

"Damn. I'm going to go through another Thanksgiving, and Christmas, before I even get to put in an order. I may not have this car for another year and a half, or even 2." That's so long. So, so long. And with so many incredible cars coming out these days, it's going to be hard to prevent me from jumping ship if my interest isn't held with spy shots and such. And recently, BMW hasn't been doing anything with the M2. That's why I think bimmerpost has been rendering the cars. Because they want to keep people's interest. |

I was all bananas in on the M2 but I'm going to give the gt350 a shot. Figure if I don't like it I can always sell it later and get a M2. This will be my first American car in two decades.

My E36 has been out since early October and like I said, I'm missing it. I'm kind of itching to mod it the way I want it (lights, new wheel setup, Michelin PSS tires ect ect). While we are speculating that the M2 is coming out in Summer 2016, I'm going back and forth about whether to do mass ED, or wait just a little bit and pay even less than ED MSRP. But by then, details about the Supra should be out too. Haha, I'm all over the place. This is why I'm thinking I should just mod the E36 because we are so far away and I have no idea what I'll be doing.
