My car started production! (and an intro)

I wanted to share the news that my car started production this week with people who shared my enthusiasm, because my girlfriend couldn't seem to care less lol.

A little about me: my name is Saxon, and I'm a software engineer living near Boulder, CO. I grew up driving a beat to hell 1993 325is, and despite the interior falling apart in it, it was incredibly fun to drive. That car started my passion for BMW, which led to my most recent purchase, a 2015 BMW M235i! This will be my first new car, and I'm really excited for it to arrive. I've enjoyed reading this forum for the past month, and I look forward to contributing photos and info once my car is delivered.

About the car:
2015 M235i
6MT
Estoril Blue II
Coral Red interior with brushed aluminum trim
Premium, Technology, and Cold Weather packages
HK sound system
Enhanced USB and BT
M performance pedals

I'm also planning on adding the M performance shift knob, black grills, and body color painted mirror caps myself.

Thanks for reading!

Gotta say it was a great experience working with the folks at Gebhardt, but the waiting is killing me. Hoping mine goes into production soon!

Small world, I live in Broomfield too. I placed my order through Gebhardt on August 2nd, and I had a VIN assigned August 15th. The wait has been brutal, but at least I'm one step closer. I hope yours starts soon!

Very small for sure! We'll see each other driving around I am sure....with smiles on our faces. I think I ordered mine right when the German workers went on holiday. Buzz at Gebhardt said production dates have been assigned but I haven't gotten a VIN yet. We'll have to stay in touch! Here's to a shorter than expected wait.

Congrats on your VIN assignment.

I'm nearby too; Westminster. I ordered my 2015 228i on August 27 from Gebhardt and have a production number but no VIN yet.

Sorry to digress, but how long does it usually take from the time production starts to actually getting it delivered? Also, how do you find the VIN?

Congrats on your purchase by the way!

I ordered my car on Aug 2nd from Serpa BMW in Ontario and my salesman says it's going to be October production for end-November delivery? Why is mine taking so long? Looking forward to seeing your pics while I wait

Maybe they don't have a build slot available? I know my salesman traded with another dealership to get an August built slot. I guess I just lucked out with timing.

A good friend works at one of the Toyota parts satellite companies.

There is quite a bit of overtime / panic associated with always having all of the right bits and pieces. I was surprised that things were not pretty much chaos free.

Anyway I wonder if you order a car with or without option xyz or style 123 if that can effect your delivery timing.
Other thing, my limited understanding of modern auto production process's makes me think that batch assembly is pretty much a thing of the past (this many convertibles, then this many standard, etc) but maybe some of that still exists.
