Low Profile Tire Problem.....

My rear right tire keeps getting low. What the F@@@, it only has 3500 miles on it. About 10 PSI of pressure loss over night, insane. I hope that is not a hole on the tire but maybe a bad valve. What do you guys think?

I'm going to say you have a nail somewhere in the tire...

You don't have a tub, that you can take the wheel off and place it in a water filled tub to hunt for bubbles?
Or you can apply some soapy water to the valve, with wheel on car, to chk for seepage.

You guy think that because of the considerable amount of air loss that its very unlikely the problem to be a bad valve but more likely a nail. Can the tires on the M235i be repair if it is a nail hole. I did not bought the warranty for the tires the dealer offer me.

Yes. Take it to tire shop. A nail can lead to more than low pressure.
I had same problem and it turned out to be the valve (20 dlls to fix)

The tire can be repaired if you don't dick around and get it checked and fixed at the first sign of a problem, before it's been refilled three times and driven on 200 miles! Otherwise you've probably shredded the inner sidewall.

What do you guys think, a regular tire shop or the dealer service department, to have the tire checked.

Any tire shop will do and will inspect it free of charge fairly quickly. They lift the car up if there is no visible debris and then fill the tire and coat it with soapy water. Any air leaking will form bubbles.

That's a tough question. The problems that can happen are: not lifting the car properly, scratching the wheel and lug-nuts when taking wheel off axle, scratching the wheel if you need a tire patch which requires dismounting then mounting the tire, and over torquing the lug-bolts.
Ideally if you could take the wheel off yourself and just have the dealer handle that, but do inquire about the tech not scratching any parts of the wheel, and ask if they have touch-less wheel mounting machine - search Youtube for video of the good machines that don't touch the wheel but only the tire for tire dismount $ mount.

Do the easy test for a puncture. Get a spray bottle (like windex) and spray water on every inch of the tire and watch for bubbles. If you do this right and you get nothing then you may be able to start considering valve stem or something else.

Even the slightest puncture will start to bubble up with this method.

When I put my spacers on 2 weeks ago I found 3 nails in 2 tires. Only one of them went all the way thru....I pulled out the plug kit and took care of it

Garage List
My uncle runs a tire shop and this is often related to a Tpms device which can cause leaks oddly enough.

Your car have Tpms or ftm?

Found a nail stocked to the tire on the inside wall. The dealer wan's $400 for a brand new tire. They said that BMW prohibits them from repairing tires.

If I use the repair kit that comes with the BMW, I need to remove the nail first right!

If it's on the sidewall, then you need a new tire. No sidewall repair yields a tire safe enough to drive on. $400 is steep for an 18" Michelin Pilot Super Sport. They go for around $225 on the tire rack.

You should only repair tires that have the nail hole within the width of the tread.
Any punctures near the shoulder or on the sidewall require a new tire.
Sometimes a nail goes through the tread and the end of the nail rubs against the inner side wall, particularly if you drive on an underinated tire - that should require a new tire.

Is that $400 with tire mounted balanced and installed?
Chk out prices on TireRack for comparison.

I believe its out the door price. I was dumbfounded when he told me the cost. My dilemma is that here in San Antonio Texas I don't think there is a place with a Hunter "Touchless" tire machine to not damage the wheel.

Did you talk to the dealer about not marring the wheels, with dealers selling M-cars over $100,000 I would have though they could do the job.
For OTD price I think that's fine, wondering how they handle the TPMS

And since the cars tire inflation kit is for emergencies I would guess you'd leave the nail in the tire ?

The service guy told me that he was going to go ahead an order the tire under my name anyway but that I was not obligated to purchase from them if I found another place with better pricing. I'm probably just going to keep on adding air to the tire until Monday when I'll take it to the dealer to have it replace.
