Lower Grill. A noob asks...

Why does my lower grill not have the nice horizontal chrome trim line that I see in photos on the internet? I tried searching the forum, but to no avail. My apologies if this has been discussed to death.

European cars get it, North American cars do not.

Internet consensus is "BMW wants you to have more cooling" which is similar to why early F30 M sports had no fog lights. Of course they added those back in for 2015 so now the answer is probably "because some guy in America didn't like them"

I don't hate my lower grill, I just think the European version looks better. Has anyone changed theirs? Can you order the grill through BMW?

The car I just bought has it. US version with the sports package. So the 228i gets it but not the m235. Guess with the m-package it goes away.

Chris Harris mentioned on a LaFerrari review that some low front lateral shapes on the Ferrari were due to euro (pedestrian, bike, animal ? )impact standards.
The M235 euro lower grill lateral slat could be the same.

No, the european cars have one of the two side openings blocked off completely along with having those silver slats. The us spec cars have both sides open with some extra kind of cooler.
