You have to be moving. Never works while sitting parked but once moving the pressure shows up. And it's almost immediate, at least for me it has been.

Still you would see dashes

I don't think you get pressure unless you have the tech package

i don't think so... i think the screen on the non-tech package doesn't account for the numbers in the screen width and it might even be that the tech package is what includes the receiver for the wheel's transmiter to receive the signal...

somebody could try to code it and see... worst case nothing will happen

$200 for Crystalline? Damn, I was quoted $1000 is San Diego. I just ended up going with SunTek CXP for $350, which I'm actually very happy with.

Besides:

Ahh, okay, except, how does it know that the status is green if there's no receiver?

cause the FTM uses rotational speed of the wheel to see if you have a flat... so basically if one wheel is spinning far slower than the others it assumes it's flat

FTM: The Flat Tire Monitor monitors tire pressures
while the car is being driven. The system
reports any significant loss of pressure in one
tire in relation to another.
If a tire loses pressure, its rolling radius
changes, and this in turn alters the speed of
rotation. This change is detected and is
reported as a flat tire.

TPM: TPM checks the inflation pressures of the four
mounted tires. The system notifies you if there
is a significant loss of pressure in one or more
tires.

$200 more than Ceramic. ceramic is $400, crystalline they said will be around $600. they also told me if i bring the film, they can instal for approximately $200-$250 for the labor.

since we are discussing pressure. what are you guys using? Do you keep tires with factory suggested pressure? i find factory suggested crazy hard and waaay too much, so I keep all tires much lower. I don't want to feel like rolling on wooden wheels ))

I definitely have TPM, as shown in the photos in my post above.

I think the point is just that putting the dye layer on the outside of the tint film was a somewhat questionable decision by 3M. Basically, you put any sort of adhesive on your tint, and you run the risk of having to redo that window (imagine a little kid with stickers).

Anyway, probably not an issue for most people, but just something to be aware of before you spend big money on it.

well to add to the confusion I think BMW just calls it TPM in the idrive regardless if you have FTM or TPMS...

So far, unchanged since I took delivery of the car. I find the ride to be really good. I'm honestly surprised given that I have RFTs.
