Hmm, but I do have the metal stems as well (and RFTs), so I thought I was guaranteed to have TPMS. (Isn't that the law in the U.S.?)

Yeah, you're right. I just looked it up...apparently "indirect TPMS" qualifies, which is basically what FTM is.

But, still, metal stems

Pressure is the default as long as you have tech package... for temp you have to code it...

now the questions is if you can code pressure or temp with non-tech

I think the point is just that putting the dye layer on the outside of the tint film was a somewhat questionable decision by 3M. Basically, you put any sort of adhesive on your tint, and you run the risk of having to redo that window (imagine a little kid with stickers).

Anyway, probably not an issue for most people, but just something to be aware of before you spend big money on it.
i actually thought that the guy had it inside out. dye on outside? are you sure? that is stupid... you can open a side window several times and it will leave lines... It can't be truth for such high end expensive film...

From http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index....tik/?p=651062:

Quote:
The dye is in the hardcoat rather than in either a PET layer or between PET layers like most films. We obviously do not experience things as drastic as ripping packaging tape off of our windows but the demo does illustrate that over time anything that is somewhat abrasive and creates friction can erode away the SR coat and thus the color. Not good for a film that runs 4 bills...

What happened to the Huper in the scrub pad test? Did you noticed that it scratched but it did not lose its color. That is because HO Drei does not have a dyed layer in the hardcoat. Come to think of it, Drei is dye-free.

I gotta be honest, the BT media not connecting is really starting to piss me off. Only the phone connects about 80% of the time. Im lucky if I get the media to work 3 times out of 10. at least i can use satellite... need to figure out how to add pandora for another fallback though.

on top of that BMW connected stopped working. Ill plug it in and it tells me, not connected and to plug it in. now its acting like I never connected it, showing what Apps do I want to drag up to use. but its showing me 5 gals of gas left from 2 fill ups ago... and only the first 3 trips in eco analyzer. ERRRR!!!

used up 1/4 tank of gas on a spirited 100 mile drive tonight. some very good twisties around my neck of the woods

oh and cant get my homelink to work either... need to keep trying that, maybe get new batteries and try some more. it acts like its working but does nothing.

Ok, I do have tpms (metal stem) and just remember that cars produce after 08 replaces ftm with tpms...not sure why picachu is confusing ppl

Everyone has tpms but not everyone has the temp & psi display...and its due to tech pkg option. Man, we need to get things straighten out

some way of TPMS is mandatory, the simplest is FTM (which does by measuring rotational speed) and more advanced is TPMS (measures actual pressure) as far as I know...

Now if somebody with rubber stems can go and get their car to show actual pressure that would put this to rest

or somebody with metal stems and non-tech package would help too

Can someone please educate me on what EXACTLY the sport+ does compared to Sport? I understand the only difference is DTC off, right? And when I switch it off, DSC activates... what exactly is the difference between these two systems? which one is controlling engine power output and which one is controlling brakes only?

can you post a picture of the smaller idrive screen with temp and pressure?
Let me see if I can get one....I coded this on for someone's car so it's not readily available for me to get a pic.

Just as a note:

Canadian Fully Loaded M235i

Rubber Valve Stems. Flat Tire Monitor (ftm), says right in the idrive as well.

I have heard a lot of issues with tpms in the cold on bmw's in the past (in my city specifically), lots of false triggers. Might have something to so with the decision.

I think Canada doesn't get real TPMS just the rotational one...

Also i think rubber stems = no wireless sensors
