Bring on that sweet, sweet 2-series GC. Maybe we can hold onto our E36 325i until a 228i Gran Coupe is released. Fall 2014, perhaps?

The biggest question is whether the 2er GC will be available in M2 guise or whether the M2 will be Coupe only...

Yes, an M2 GC would probably be very close in price to an M3, but it would truly be the sweetest car BMW has on offer

Gorgeous render. I'm really liking the 1 series derivatives more and more.

I like that photo render on the bottom. I want to consider a 2 series for my next BMW purchase. I hope the back really does resemble the photo.

That sketch of the headlight looks very angular and sharp, hope that goes all the way down to production. I just think the current design excercise of the headlight in the new 1 series is just attrocious. This would remedy that, but we'll see if it is.

Yeah. I totally agree. There will be too many series. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7-8. BMW owners won't feel special anymore.

I think the 2 series will have sales on par with 3 series and much more than 4 series.
It's good that BMW will offer so many options of great models!
The renders look awesome

Lol! How badly we all want the answers to these questions!! But we all know the answers are at least 6-9 months away...

This is beginning to take shape nicely--where the 3 and 4 are starting to feel like spaceships (size-wise), the 1/2 has always felt more "right". And it goes back to the E46 feeling just about right.

The question I have, posed above, is in regard to the M2. Timing? Engine? Weight?

My 135 lease is up next December...maybe it will be time to buy a Honda Civic and just wait for the M2...

+1. Would be a reborn E46 for modern times.

Since the 2 series Coupe and GC will be introduced in 2013 (looks like second half of the year), then I believe that it is pretty fair to imagine that the M2 will appear in flesh earliest in 2014, and probably as a 2015 model. I will be very surprised (but happy) if we hear anything concerning its engine type or other techical details before close to launch.

I guess they can test it fairly well dressed like an F20/F21.

First off, why are people still complaining about the 2 and 4 series designations? It makes complete sense- the alpha-numerics are finally starting to be rational.

There are so many body configurations that it will be easier for the consumer to keep track.

With the above arguments, we should never had a 6 or X6 Series to begin with.

Scott- the sound of an M2 Coupe sounds great. Looking forward to light weight, biturbo I4, and hopefully an M DCT option.

The 2 coupe (usa) is coming at such a late date that I will have to give the redesigned 2014 Audi TT a look.
