I'm sorry that happened. it hurts to see your car like that. I'll agree with you about Texas drivers. I've driven In a lot of cities, but Austin and surrounding is just full of God aweful drivers. accidents all the time, every other car has body damage, road rage, ppl running from the police, running reds and stop signs is all too common. And pickups are the worst of them. I literally had Jethro tried to race me the other day in his 1980 rusty pickup in his wife beater. you'd think I'd be making that up, but I'm not. sorry for the rant but be careful out there

I found out if you leave the gear shift in sport and then put it in park it will automatically go back to the normal position! Wizardry

Man that gloss black wrapped interior is looking pretty good. I guess that'll be my next cheap project when I get my ride back.

ONR wash. It's a lifesaver living in an apartment complex. Might even stick with ONR when I eventually get a house.

50% isn't worth it man. I've got 50% on my front windshield though. This probably isn't a good pic for you since I have 18% sides and 5% rear. It makes the front window look dark. I'll open my windows and take a pic after work. Here's this for now.

^^

Different strokes I guess. When I was younger I was all about the 5% and 20%, but now I think the 35% and 50% look the best. 35% is probably the best compromise of looks, safety and interior UV protection. Of course now, NYS inspection stations will automatically fail any passenger car's inspection if any of the side windows are below 70%. The rear window can be tinted to any darkness, provided the car has dual outside mirrors. Yay Cuomo.

Check with your tint shop but I believe 35% is the sweet spot for maximum benefit from UV protection, heat etc. Going darker is mainly cosmetic and offers minimal additional benefit for the "technical benefits" and 35% gets you the most bang for your buck so to speak. There's definitely a magic number where you get the best performance think 35% but again check with your shop.

Sorry to threadjack, just in regards to tints..With how dark these interiors are, it's my opinion that you shouldn't be much darker than 35% unless you prefer dark, as 35% is that threshold where it is serving both UV protection and privacy, until you get close. 50% is that nice transparent tint that IMO looks great on Euro cars with dark interiors. You do lose privacy when going 50%, but it still retains all of the UV protection properties. My car has 50% up front (in BC it's illegal to have any tint up front, in general) and 35% in the rear. If I could do it again I'd go 50% all around. You can see in my pics that it looks really dark, which it does in real life too, until you move around and realize that the dark interior itself is giving you a false impression.

Here's the car w/ 35% on the rear and 50% on the front:

This is 35% on our GTI, all around. The GTI has black interior also

I have 35% on the sides and 20% on the back window. The darker on the back looks better with the convertible top

I prefer dark lol. When I'm sitting in my car ppl say that they can't tell that I'm in there and that's when looking at me from the front of the car. In the rear you don't see anything. It might as well be painted black. The only thing I can see from the rear is the reflection of light off of the metal bracket for the headrest lol. I love it.

I will say that when reversing at night I have to roll down the windows. You're not seeing anything out of the back and the side mirrors are too dark to see anything through the 18% sides. It got a bit better when I got LED reverse lights. With the stock reverse lights you saw nothing in the side mirrors as well. Small price to pay. It'll be remedied whenever I decide to retrofit a back-up camera. So far it hasn't been an issue.

But yeah, to each his own. I just feel like 50% isn't going to be worth it in terms of look and/or UV protection. At a minimum I'd do 35%, but even that is pretty light for me. 50% on the windshield is nice though and you're protecting your dash a bit from the sun.

I'll try to get pics today now that the sun is actually out.

After a month of F23 ownership, finally realized I have an "all-windows-down/up switch" on the door handle. LOL. So handy!

Def a nice feature. You know you can do windows up / down and roof up / down with key fob too right?
