Trunk won't open
Hoping someone will know a solution for this... I closed my trunk earlier when leaving work and now it won't open, either the shoulder strap on my bag got stuck in the latch or the mechanism broke.
The trunk is showing a warning light that it's open when driving on the dash and I made sure the valet lock wasn't on. I booked an appointment at he dealership for tomorrow but I have my work PC and house keys in the trunk so I need to get in it asap. Has Anyone dealt with this before? |

No but I did lock my car keys accidentally in the trunk and found out that you can't get into the car without another set of keys. Car was locked and threw my running fanny pack in the trunk after running, shut the trunk and the car door and trunk wouldn't open. If you had your rear seats down (I keep mine down) you could slide back there and pull on the yellow safety handle to open it from the inside.

I actually had it happen twice from a low battery and the valet lock in the glove box got flipped on somehow, both times in my 335 convertible. They may have a trick to get in without removing the seats by going thru the soft handle on the trunk from the outside.

happened to me, I used a piece of 1/2 pvc with a 90 on the end to grab the emergency release in the trunk while someone pulled up.

That's awesome..
Happened to me when installing a front / rear camera setup. The back seats were back up as I was almost done and I absentmindedly shut the trunk lid with the key fob in the trunk. *shit* Spent an hour fumbling around for another remote that didn't work, Probably because I reset the entire system during the wiring.. Still not sure about that... And then another two hours fishing for the magic glowing pull handle.. Wasn't able to get it until a neighbor who is a Snap On tools dealer stepped in with a scope and we were able to unlatch it via infrared. But it did take pressure from the pull and trunk lid at the same time. Rapidly becoming a Snap On tools fan... |

you need a bit of force on that emergency pull. Think of a sickle tool and that's what I made. I will probably add some cable, a pulley and put the pull under the seat. Besides, If I put someone in my trunk I want them in there. I illuminated the trunk with a small led flashlight.
