I honestly use Sport+ in the snow. I'd rather the rear come out a little bit and me steer a little with throttle than just steer and pray the car goes/stops the the way I want it to.

I like DSC off too for certain situations.

We have AWD, and despite that and the stability systems it was easier to do than you might think compared to other AWD vehicles I've driven.

But, alas, if you overdo it at all, Xdrive and the stability systems jump in, put a stop to the fun, and "save you from yourself".

Well, remember last Wed night in DC, aka the clusterfk?

Drove home from Reston to Gaithersburg, DSC OFF, rwd, no-season tires. Took 2 hours and mostly wiggled the way there.

I thought that it was just the District that screwed up. So it was the suburbs too?

The MD Governor admitted he got caught looking ahead to the big storm and MD did nothing to prepare for the Wednesday snow. Same with VA, they just didn't admit it. Driving through VA back to DC that night was a slow mess. About 300 accidents were reported that night all over the metro area. Can't decide which is worse, the lack of preparation for the Wednesday snow or the slowness of the clean up after Snowzilla (most schools are still closed).

No Fun

So sad ....no snow here this winter. When I lived back east off-hour mall parking lot donuts were de rigueur. Have fun and be careful out there.

Yah, WTF. The Americans are getting our weather and we're getting theirs.
It's the end of January and the most snow we've had in the Toronto area is a light dusting. Tomorrow 43F and rain forecast, Wed 48F and rain...

Try turning stability completely off.

I drive in Sport all the time unless I'm on a long highway stretch just cruising. When it's raining I'm in Sport sliding around a bit.

Not sure I quite follow this...
Sport has no effect on traction control sensitivity from comfort mode...

Sport+ though has DTC ON and then DSC OFF has most controls off
But apart from stiffer suspension if configured to include chassis, not sure what difference you would get from sport and the default comfort mode

Never left Sport since taking delivery in November 2014, backend dances on the beginning of my first drive for the day. It's been above freezing here so roads are pretty dry for the most part.

There's a noticeable difference in my 228. I can keep my foot steady and switch modes and can feel the car get feisty as I go from ECO to Comfort to Sport. I don't have Sport+.

but that's just the throttle response.... it's the same as pressing the throttle harder... but shouldn't affect how much you can make the rear lose

Always DSC OFF don't like the car telling me how to drive! And Sport+ When i want extra sound and throttle response.

In Poland - which is still conceived by many as a snowy country with polar bears walking in the streets - we only had one (1) week of moderate this winter so far! But to those loving to fishtail their RWD cars: it's even more fun with winter tires on a wet asphalt, as the speed can be greater, and due to winters' characteristics the grip is not there..

Disclaimer: don't try it at home
