That's something you do when you know someone else will be in the car. I think most speculation of someone getting your address is when their entry inside the vehicle has been forced.

Hill assist is there on the auto as well. Same purpose - zero rollback, although it's clearly of more use on the manual.

If you don't want your home address disclosed when you are clearly not there, also do not enter it as "Home" in the navigation. Just let it be among recent addresses which you can also easily reselect.

Edit/ I just saw this was already mentioned in prior page. Sorry for repetition.

Good point thanks. I have home and work currently on the presets.

I just have both saved as work. Home is "work" and work is "office" since I doubt anyone would look to go break into an office.

This is probably obvious, but don't put your actual home address in memory. In my wife's nav it's set to the grocery store at the front of our neighborhood. I'm pretty sure that I can make it home from there.

It's really a piece of mind thing for most people. I put it in there because if someone should show up to my house uninvited after my car just got jacked or any other time they will get a warm welcome at 1200 feet per second.

I also work in the personal security/private investigation industry. You can find someone's home address by going to any post office or paying .99 online.

If you guys want to hear the sport exhaust gurggle but you do not want the throttle response/stiffness of the suspension to change from comfort, just turn traction control off.

Or from the vehicle registration in the unlocked glove box. :/ Just saying if you're paranoid about someone navigating to your house don't put in your actual address. Probably a moot point at that point though. :|

That's interesting. Just turning traction control off somehow opens up the exhaust valve? Will try it out.

BMW Remote app.

It doesn't do much so it's easy to overlook but it has it's uses. It has a vehicle locator in the maps tab of the app that can really come in handy if you ever forget where you parked your car, especially in those big cities. I was in a hurry once and completely forgot where my parking structure was, remembered I had the app and it pinpointed my car 3 blocks away. Who knows how long I would have been wandering if it weren't for this app :P

Sending addresses to the car happens fairly quickly as well if you want to use the car's navigation.

Press the speak icon on the steering wheel and then say aloud any function you want to call up. Will bring it up immediately. Like "trip computer" and such.

Also, if you want Sport Mode without the piped in exhaust sound from the stereo, change the settings in Sport Mode to chassis only and flip the auto stick to the left. Now you'll hear mainly the sound of your exhaust while enjoying Sport Mode.

Only if you could do this with manual trans as setting the Sport Mode to chassis only would result in the gas pedal response to be the same as Comfort Mode.

I have an F30 but here's a tip if you have the Driver's Assistance Package.

When I hit the the drive through ATM I auto fold my mirrors in. It helps to get closer and I don't have to worry about scraping up my mirrors.

The only drawback is that you lose the visibility of the mirrors. To get around this I hit the backup camera button the press down on the idrive button once. This brings up the rear view camera while you are parked/stationary.

You can go about your business using the ATM and have a 360 degree view of your surroundings.

The car is equipped with an amazing auto recirculate feature. The air recirculating (from my experience with other vehicles, max ac) has 3 settings; auto, on and off. Auto works only with auto climate control I believe.

During my PCD delivery, the genius told me that the auto function has pollutant sensors integrated such that when the vehicle encounters an issue, the outside air shuts down. I assumed it would work; I had no idea how well. On our way back home, there is an area in West Detroit that is incredibly foul. I have never driven through the few miles without smelling the unpleasantness. Not a noticeable smell in the 228. I was astonished.

Since then (6 months), I notice that I almost never smell the outside world. I smelled skunk one time when I left the front defrost on and smelled the oil burn belch from a car that hammered it right in front of me but that went away quickly.

This may be the most unexpectedly delightful feature of the car for me.

Here are a few minor things that you may or may not know:

When moving the front seats backwards or forwards, you don't need to hold down the button by the headrest. Simply tap it once and it'll move all the way forward. One tap the other way will move the seat back to its original position.

In the trunk there are two small hooks, one on each side. Perfect place to hang small bags.

Keep the side mirror adjustment switch to the left and the passenger side mirror will dip in reverse to make parallel parking much easier. Once in drive it'll return to its original position.

If you have navigation use the search feature in connected drive instead of the POI search within the navigation menu. You'll likely get far more hits and will be more accurate.

Hot day? Hold the unlock button on your key fob and Windows will roll down followed by the moonroof shortly afterward. If you have the tech package download the app and you can turn on the ventilation system (just ambient air) from your smart phone. Do this leaving the office and you'll find your car cooler than without.

The auto tilt on the right mirror (in reverse) works on manual transmission cars as well.
