Alright fellas it's done. Just got the diffuser and muffler installed. My original plans fell through with my buddy as he was suppose to install it at his shop but got injured. I wanted to snap pictures and videos but there was no way as I took it to a local shop. Price was good and went with it. Here is the end result

Sorry I don't as of yet. I'll try to record some at a later time.

220i muffler upgrade

Hi, I looking for the 228i muffler to upgrade my 220i. Are you thinking to sell it ? If yes, please inform me.

I forgot exact numbers but I believe it was around $300 including tips, diffuser and labor.

Interesting . . . .

Certainly like the sound! For paranoid types, does anyone know if there are any negative effects, loss of performance, throwing codes, that kind of stuff?

I didn't notice any drop in gas mileage or loss in power, certainly no check engine lights or codes. A couple local members have done this without any problems either and they're happy with the price and sound.

If you notice the Meisterchaft muffler and the mid pipe for the 235i... you can see all they did was essentially a muffler delete and a resonator delete (my setup is pretty much exactly the same but I didn't spend $1898 for the muffler and $698 for the mid section.

Thanks.

Smart!!

I envy the folks who can just buy a cherry bomb with pocket money, throw it on, and enjoy. Your solution is a bit more change and a bit more involved, but I like it .

Like the acceleration noise but not the popping and gurgling on downshift. My 'Vette did that and drove me crazy after a while. You need a cross-pipe to smooth that out...

I'll wait and see how the sound is with the catless downpipe and I may end up changing the exhaust setup just a bit if the sound is too loud.

Do you have an in-cabin video after the muffler delete? Would like to hear how it sounds and see how bad the "drone" you mention is. The video of the outside sounds great!

this IS KILLING ME. I have a shop what can do what youve had done here, looks totally deadly. my problem, i CANNOT find a dual exit difuser for a 228 without an m sport bumper. IM BEGGING YOU where did you get that difuser, what was its part number, and how much was it? really looking good, great job. eagerly awaiting your response.

I was wondering the same thing - I have the non-Msport 228, and I think the rear bumper area and diffuser are different, aren't they?

Since you've done that which is cool.
De-badge the 228i off the trunk.

Yes they are different. The stock rear bumper, which I also have, doesn't have the section for the lower diffuser as the M Sport version does.

Guess they were afraid somebody would just throw on a new diffuser and debadge it, and then the entire order of society would start to crumble....

Just installed a M235i exhaust on my 228i MSport today, and I am absolutely in love with it. Cannot believe how good it sounds compared to stock. Just waiting on my VRSF downpipe and AA tune :-)
