So I just went to the official BMW page and under technical data for the M4 it says: 89.6/84.0 (stroke/bore) ...which is exactly the same as the N55. I'm confused now. But if the S55 and the N55 indeed share the same bore and stroke, I have an idea where they might have gotten that closed-deck cylinder block from. |

To add further confusion:
The official M3 / M4 tech spec post here on Bimmerpost mentions the changed bore/stroke over the N55 but the full press release included in that post doesn't mention anything about it. |
