Vision GT6 -> Production M2: Rear Flares

"Push the vent into the body work and you have your M2"
- Scott26

I said long ago that the M2 would look strikingly similar to the Vision GT6 and some laughed. Now it's my turn

It's pretty damn incredible looking, isn't it?

Won't make the front page but everyone who's excited about this car should be even more excited, because the stance is going to be ridiculously 'brutal'.

Pretty beastly, right?

Why did you extend the forward vent all the way down, when clearly the vent doesn't go past the camo?

Looks like they will make it smaller, like the M4. Can't have the M2 looking more aggressive than the M4 'cause you know... sales. I wouldn't be surprised if they completely back away and add NO vent like the 1M. Again... the M2 should be in no way "better" than the M4.

Well first off I made it too long. Then I was lazy and tried just covering it up because undo wasn't working. But I still expect the curvature to be longer even though the actual vent may be short. Anyways I meant for this to focus more on the rear flare regardless.

I hope more M4 rather than M3 style too.

Interested to see what happens with the front spoiler too and fangs with the Performance treatment.

How much are the M3/4 mirrors?

I don't know. To me the 1M looks more aggressive than the E92. I think it will be more aggressive because it will have much lower sales than the M3 M4. More of a niche car.

What I had mentioned in the other thread was this apparent diagonal crease in the fender, outlined below in technoviolet However, upon closer inspection, I'm pretty sure this is just an optical illusion created by the treeline adjacent to the highway.

I agree with your analysis. This will be one bullish-looking machine...can't wait!

Not an illusion. It's also on the last m235 racing mule-that's- not- an-M2CSL mule

It is not an optional illusion, I guarantee it. There's another photo of a different mule that shows the same thing. I'll dig it up later when I have time.

Remember someone said the front bumper looked just like a 'post LCI 128i bumper'. I'll have to dig that up after the reveal just so I can laugh at it.

I know who you are talking about. He even said the car looks mean after seeing those LBB pics

Yep this diagonal crease is there but my question is why? It's very e30 like. Or is it possible it's fake panel. Ok just answered my question after viewing the m235i racing. Check this out. Is the m2 flare and crease aka "push the gt6 vents in" the same as this m235i racing. If it is this M2 is going to look epic!

Edit: this is actually the perfect angle to compare with the LBB pic above it. Look at the rear qtr panel thickness against the right of the rear lights, it's the same, so is the indent where the gt6 rear qtr vents are. To me this angle of m235i racing shows exactly how he M2 will look aside from the front side vent extending all the way down and the front guard flare.

There's actually a ton different. It's in the details. Very busy at the moment so I can't draw any images or anything. But the M2's shape is vastly different. Check the area above the flare and you'll see that the body line which is abpve the flare comes to a point where as the one on the M235i does not. The width is there but the style is pretty different.

Here you go: another difference includes the fact that the M235i racing flare is much more 'melted' where as the M2 is sculpted. The M2 flare extends way more aggressively into the fender as well. I see how you see a similarity but if you really, really look close, they are quite different.

You can also see that the M235i Racing flare reaches the back of the door. It does not on the M2.

The shorter length will make it much more pronounced looking.

The M2 will look way more bad ass, that's a promise.

Ok I get what your saying now point taken. Stating it was exactly what the M2 will be like was wrong but it is minor differences.. At least we can all agree based on these comparisons using the m235i racing as a guide without camo that the stance and flare is strong with the M2.

The m235i racing looks like a Liberty Walk wide body kit but without the rivets. I never liked the m235i racing. Looks fuggly IMO.

The M2 on the other hand looks good so far. Cannot wait for the reveal!

Agreed. That just looks like the M-Performance lip. A must add also for the M2 IMO.

A will lose as well... as in, you will lose that lip after the first road dip.

Don't mind me. I'm just bitter that I slightly curbed the underside of my front bumper and haven't had time to touch it up. Basically driving a beater right now.
