W///, what other cars are you looking at besides the M2? What 'percentage' of you is already convinced that you'll be in an M2. I'm at about 95% myself, but I'm more curious to see what other cars you'd consider. I think you said F80 as one?

60% M2 20% F80 M3 LCI (maybe ZCP if it's worth it) 10% do nothing for a few years and buy used Porsche 5% do nothing buy used M6 Gran Coupe 4% get a used Dodge Viper 1% be financially smart and stop being a car guy So as you can see, I'm all over the place, but the M2 is firmly in first place. I'm just not about raw power and enjoy cars like the Cayman more than the 911. I think that will apply between the M2 vs M3 as well.

Is keeping your 1M not one of the options? I was kinda surprised to not see it on there. Or does that fall under the add X1 category?

Well, since we're doing the percentages game, I'll play:
E92 M3 - 10% M2 - 20% M3 - 20% M4 - 30% Cayman S - 20% Now if I can hold out until next year and BMW pulls out a surprise with the M2 CSL (~$75K ), it just might be a game changer. |

I have an early '08 e90 M3 manual. The clutch is the weaker version (updated '09), and the navi is the antiquated version. Nonetheless, the car is solid. I am the fourth owner and have zero regrets. As a most recent anecdote, I had a great weekend driving this car and would see no need to change it. A first year model run may have some quirks, but I would not divert to a different model or manufacturer for the reason of the car being on its first year of production. Especially on an M car. These cars are well built. |

For those who are still interested in the GT4, word has come from Andreas Preuninger (head of Porsche GT) that there will be more coming. Seems like 1250 - 1500 for U.S:
AP gives the highlights: http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-a...reuninger.html Some discussion: http://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/89584...nd-no-pdk.html |

"The success of the GT4 in a manual version has helped make the case that there is a market demand for that type of transmission in the GT product line. And [Andreas Preuninger] hinted that the next base gt3 might as well have a manual transmission as an alternative (option) to PDK."Manuals aren't written off yet. Might be that they start to become a statement for sports cars nowadays (for the second or third in line of the top of the range - not for the top horses itself). I'm biased, of course.

Hope the M2 can get its power down better than M4 in this video.

FYI,
GT4 order books are open again. Dealer offered me a slot below MSRP with a March build date. I have a feeling Porsche is about to start pumping out GT4s. |

I like the Spyder, but just not how they priced it. It's just too close to the GT4 considering it doesn't have some of the suspension of the GT cars as well as being slightly down on power.

Much deliberation done, ordered a Spyder, on the road a better daily driver (versus the GT4), ground clearance mainly, and top down (yes not a simple thing) the sound is going to be brilliant.
Good luck guys and girls with your decisions. Last edited by Alpine*; 11-19-2015 at 02:10 AM.. |

As of right now (without test driving the M2 or the new turbo Cayman), I'd put it at: C7 Corvette - 60% M2 - 25% CPO Cayman S - 10% CPO 997.2 - 5% But that could change if I end up really liking the way the M2 drives -- or if Porsche manages to either improve the performance (especially the low-end torque) of the base Cayman and/or reduce the price of the Cayman S. |
