Trunk elastic strap - what do you use it for?
There is an elastic strap in the trunk on the right wheel well. I've seen this in several German cars, but I'm curious what this would typically be used for. Some German logic that escapes me? (Like so many details on this car?)
It's not stretchy enough to put much in there. Or strong enough really. A quart of oil wouldn't really fit (and would be badly exposed to something rolling around loose in the trunk). For now, I've just stuck a plastic grocery bag in there, as it fits well, and they are handy for so many things. What do you put in the strap? |

I know that some do come w/ a fire extinguisher, but not sure if mine even has the elastic-have to check now. I keep all that other stuff (except the pmags) in the farback passenger side bin w/ the netting to hold it in place.

depending on what you have, and what state, you can break down and fit under the trunk mat too!

It holds the OEM first aid kit that came with my car perfectly. It was there when I bought the car. I'm thinking that it's what it was intended for originally.

My car ::knock on wood:: doesn't burn oil at all, so I don't worry about keeping a quart on board ... but the washer fluid idea is a good one ...
