Not worried about the motors wearing out? My friend's BMW's mirrors were messed up after awhile and he had to leave them out permanently.

I wasn't too worried about it really. I mean BMW makes them fold and unfold for a reason right? I would be doing the same exact act of folding and unfolding them each time I park so the automation of it doesn't necessarily add that many additional in and outs?

Maybe. I would think you would be able to. I'm going to code some things sooner or later and the auto fold/unfold will be one of them.

It's a nice feature to have on those occasions that you need it, but I don't see any need to do it every time. I do have mine coded such that a long press on the lock button on the fob folds them on my e91, I assume that option is available for the f22 but I have not coded this car yet.

I would imagine the motors in the mirrors are pretty tough. I travel to Europe a good deal on business and I notice that the vast majority of mirrors are folded due to the tight parking. I think a feature that is a "nice to have" in the US is a daily usage item in Europe. If folding mirrors were breaking all of the time BMW would have significant issues in Europe.

We have a 5 year old X5 on which we fold and unfold the mirrors several times daily (we can't get in the garage without folding the mirrors in, and then we have to unfold them so we can see the car versus the side of the garage door as we back out, but we need to fold them in again as the mirrors pass by the opening and then unfold them once we are out), plus we almost always fold the mirrors in when we park as the X5 is so wide. No question we have folded or unfolded the mirrors more than 10,000 times, and in addition we had a minor collision when a truck traveling in the opposite direction on a narrow road damaged the driver side mirror. Even with that, we've had no issues whatsoever with the motors that fold and unfold the mirrors.

As for the motors, I have a warranty so im not overly concerned, but it was a bit overkill to do it each time. |

If you leave the toggle switch for the mirror(s) in the left hand/mirror position and when you put the car in reverse, it should tilt down automatically. If you leave if on the right side (to operate the right mirror) it will NOT tilt down.

Wait - so you can code how long you have to hold down the "LOCK BUTTON" in order for the mirrors to fold in? That's awesome! |

Let's face it, stuff on these cars breaks even when you DON'T use it every day. We love them anyway. I try not to poke the sleeping bear unnecessarily.

Does it count the "button" on the door handle as the lock button or does it have to be the fob?

Did this, still didn't work.. I'm surprised :S cuz without rearview cam, its definitely great to have a side view mirror tilt in reverse to help visibility.

Sometimes I like to turn my control display off. I programmed this as a shortcut to my programmable key 8. Press the option button below the iDrive controller and move the cursor over "turn off control display." Press and hold the programmable key of your choice. Voila! Now you have a one touch control display off function.
If you have Comfort Access and you get out of the car but forgot to roll windows up, touch your finger on the comfort access bumps on the door handle and keep it there. Everything will close up. If you have a MY2015 or later (I don't believe 2014 but I could be wrong), press and hold the voice control button on the steering wheel and it will activate Siri or whatever personal assistant you have on your phone. Your phone must be paired and connected via Bluetooth for this to work. This is great to compose text messages. Also for those that don't have navigation because you can call by voice. :-)
