I'm confused. I thought the M Sport Brakes were standard on the M235i?

Is it an option now?

I think they are standard on the M235--but if you just wanted those on your 228, now you can get them in a sep. option instead.

Right--me either. But I haven't even seen the official catalog for the performance parts--really would like to get an idea of what the 19s and LSD are going to cost.

From a budgeting perspective, having all of those prices up front would be a lot better...

There are too many damn naming options these days.

If you want the M performance brakes, that's something else too...

Still no LSD? Come on BMW, lets have a line in those options for the LSD. Don't make it an accessory.

Don't forget 4 cyl (AMG) vs 6 cyl (M Perf).

IMO this car is a bit pricey for how it's built. I believe most people are with me here on this. The people who are excited that the price is around the same as the 135is (actually appears to be $450 cheaper) need to realize the transmission is not the same. It's equipped with a much cheaper cost to the manufacture transmission.

From my research, the ZF 8HP tranny saves the manufacture costs by 20% opposed to the DCT, which is a huge saving to BMW.

At any rate, the only good news from this is they are probably going to put the DCT in the M2. And that should be one hell of a car that I will not pass up on.
ZF 8HP is a wonderful transmission. Don't forget that Chris Harris thought he was driving a dual clutch car when testing the M135i, until he read in the specs afterwards that it actually was not ! That's how good and fast it is.

I tested it as well and liked it, but in the end opted for the manual, just because I remain a 'manual type of guy.'

The 19" that are shown are very similar to some that have been offered in the past. My guess is they are in line with past pricing and I want to say they are north of $4k for a set with wheels & tires. They look great so I was trying to get the GM to build it with them on and pay the difference in the wheel cost, whatever it would be. Needless to say that was a no go and I realized how they make they $$.

My 2 cents on price is that this thing is a steal at $43k (look at the comparisons. This car matches up amazingly to the e46 M3, 335is, and other examples they list in the forum. I was looking at them last night and realized the thing is the same size as a e46!. My concerns of size were eliminated immediately) My 335is was $60k and if you take a e46 M3 at time of purchase and consider inflation I'm sure that they weren't cheap. I personally think it's a fair ratio of performance to cost. MPG is amazing too considering. But if I build what I want and add the rims and some other goodies I'm over $56k for sure. So I understand everyone's concerns.

I wish I could just go with the base at $43+ and be done with it. God forbid I can't use my nav to skype my friends while checking stocks and Facebook while hanging S turns at 70 mph. For me personally, even fully loaded, it will actually save me $ compared to my 335is and I really don't think I'm sacrificing much other than backseat legroom. Truth is I just wish we could order everything a la carte to meet our desires and price restrictions and add it up and the end. Unfortunately the "package" world is here to stay I think.

You can see the exact dimensional differences in the comparison charts we put together between the M235i and the E46 M3, M135i, 435i, 335is, CLA45 in the official thread:

So correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like this car doesn't have led blinkers or brake lights. Also it doesn't look like you can even pay extra to get led headlights. Am I right on this? If so, I am very disappointed that a car of this caliber doesn't have these things!

Wait until you touch the interior in real life. You'll be even more disappointed in this car.

Yes but if you look at most reviews of the A45 AMG vs the M135i, people say the AMG is the faster and sportier car.

Until you get into the CLA and realize that your not in a PT cruiser with all of the hard plastics abound.

I'm very curious to see this car in person in Detroit. Some days it looks sporty to me, some days it just looks like a high end civic. I gotta see it in person to decide.

Either way I do expect it will be fun to drive.

Here the 4 cyl does not mean less. Because the AMG with its 4 cyl offers more power then BMW 6 cyl. Don't get me wrong I like the inline-6 turbo over 4 cylinder but in its current state the BMW inline-6 turbo in M235i is not as strong as AMG 4 cyl.

Nope, the same old crap where they will withhold those items for the LCI. Then when the new second gen 2 series comes out after that, bye bye again until that body's LCI.
