2016 228i Key FOB replacment

Just bought a used 2016 228i. Unfortunately it only came with (1) key fob.
Are there any other places to look towards besides the crazy DEALER prices?
Thanks in advance.

The way the car's security system is mated to key fob, the only option is for a BMW dealer to order you a new fob from the factory, based on the your vehicle's VIN number. Don't let some shady locksmith tell you otherwise, only a BMW dealer can replace the fob and laser cut door key. I've been through this process before and the local locksmith(s) only wasted my time and money.

If the dealer is going charge you labor for this process, have them uncouple the missing key fob from the vehicle's CAS system, so you know for sure there isn't someone out there with a fully functioning key and access to your vehicle.

Buy a keyfob from bmw of FairFax by providing your vin(yes, I bought one for my 2014 2-series about 2 yrs ago, cost me about $230 with comfort access). No programming needed, you can pair the key with the car in about 2 minutes (instructions from a YouTube video)
