top of the line 1M was 55K. base price for E90 Sedan was 56K and coupe 59K

hope that helps answer your query..

No mention of an optional limited slip differential?

I think Canadian spec 235i has leather standard but no sunroof or automatic standard, is that correct ?

Also, I thank the heavens, that we Canadians are not getting this sublime 8-speed automatic for free. Such a gift would sorely tempt my love of manual transmissions. I would be in a real pickle.

I guess BMW global thinks of Canadians as more European in their car preferences.

Interesting. A bit more expensive than I had hoped for. The new M3/M4 that were just announced are much more appealing at this point...but at about a $10-20k price premium probably! I need to start saving my pennies.

One thing I find odd about the M235i is it only has 7.5" wide rear wheels? Really? On a car with a ///M badge? Those are begging to be upgraded big time! I was hoping for at least 8.5" or 9" wide at the back. The 1M had 10" rears! Oh well!

I didn't look at the 235, but the 228 Msport comes with 7.5"/8" front/rears, but if you get all season tires you get 7.5" all around, wtf? Just give us the same wheels and change the tires. I realize narrower tires are better for snow, but still.

anyone saying this is more expensive than they expected has not researched what this car is all about. My '13 135is had a sticker of $50,300. the M235i comes in very similar in similar spec.

these cars were never meant to be 'cheap'....it's a niche product in the US market and will be priced as such.

My questions:

1) Sensatec vs Leatherette? Is leather worth 1450 over sensatec? I have leather in my car now.

2) Since we know that engine noise is piped through the speakers, is Harmon Kardon worth 850? I am not an audiophile at all, so not planning on getting this really. I know the "Hifi" is standard on the M235i. Curious if the engine noise sounds better with the HK.

3)Special instrument cluster with digital model designation together with red dials and numbers for the speedometer and rev counter

^ That is what is talked about for the M235i. However, I noticed the technology package comes with Instrument cluster with extended contents. How is this different?

Thanks!

As of now, here is my current spec sheet. I am planning money on mods, so trying to keep the price low!

M235i 1
Base 43,100
Destination 925
Manual 0
Estroil Blue 550
Total 44575
BMW Loyal - 500
College - 1000
Total 43075

Missing the LSD, want to know!

xDrive

Is BMWs xDrive worth it on a car like the M235i? Or is the performance not going to be the same? I understand it will have better 0-60 times, but how about the handling of the vehicle? Or 40-60 times.

I'm debating between the M235i and the 2015 Golf R. The Golf R is also an all-wheel drive but can shift all power to rear wheels when needed. Will BMWs xDrive do the same?

Anyone who has experience with a BMW xDrive sports car...if you can help me out here it will be greatly appreciated.

Some folks might want same size wheels all around to enable rotating wheels front->rear and not just "one position" wheels..... Yep...I'm one of those . Those wheels might very well become my "winter" snow tire wheels....where, as you say, narrower is better to get through the "white stuff this time of year.

I was hoping for that and the optional wheel prices too - perhaps since those are to be sold under the M performance moniker, they are completely at the dealer level and not available from the factory ?

I have seen discussion on factory installed vs dealer installed for all of that stuff, but if it was confirmed one way or another, I missed it.

I can understand the rotation of the tires point of view, but the staggered look makes the car's stance more aggressive.

Maybe that's why the rear doesn't look that great to me. They have 7.5 all around...my god I hope that's some sort of misprint.

M235i seems overpriced to me. Was expecting it to be less expensive than the CLA45 AMG. After all one is a real AMG, and the other is not quite an M. This car should be $39 base.

The M135i has 7.5 front and 8 rear, I think it is a typo.

Not trying to start an argument here, because I am actually looking at both cars.

M235i - 44025 base (including destination)
CLA45 AMG - 48375 base (including destination)

so, stock for stock, its about 4,350 in price difference.

I believe the CLA45 AMG I had built was around the 52k mark. All I had optioned are sensatech recaro seats (2250) and AMG Exhaust (450).

I am guessing if LSD is 2K, then the M235i will be around 46k, still 2k difference.

Price includes 4 year free maintenance with BMW. Mercedes offers none (or you can pre-buy for 1,500 I believe)

Also remember, the M235i weights less then the CLA45 AMG.

Power for power, they are pretty even when you consider weight.
CLA45 may be faster due to double clutch and FWD based AWD, but this is my first manual car, so that is why I am leaning towards M235i.

Plus, with the cash left over, I can do some good mods onto my M235i. My personal budget is about 50k for everything (rims, exhaust, carbon bits).

If I got the CLA45 AMG, I wouldn't be getting any aftermarket parts

I am hoping so - I would not be as surprised on a 228 to see this, but a staggered setup simply looks better IMO.

I know there are arguments for and against when it comes to lap times and whatnot, but I'm talking purely aesthetics here.

For $44+ big ones and its not even a true M car....this is insane

I'll look for a use Z4M or E36M and still have change for a 4x4 beater

And fuk the moonroof, put the LSD down there, man BMW is not BMW anymore...so sad
