Personally, I think the drl headlights and amber "corners"(and side maker lights) as safer. Over here in Europe the side profile of the cars at night is very dark. Its hard to see another car - at say a 90' intersection.

And btw... over here in Germany, you can only use those "rear fogs" when you have LESS than 50 meters of sight! That is less than the next little white and black "sticks" on the side of the Autobahn.

Dack, do you have a EU spec car? Would you please post a pic with the rear fog light on? Thanks!

Yes, I have a US spec 135i car. I bought it thru military car sales, here in Germany.

What I did was I bought a Euro headlight switch for my US spec car. It wasn't hard to install and that new switch has the extra "blank" or switch for the rear fog lights. No coding is necessary.

Here is the thread where I installed the euro switch.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=17

I now have LCI blacklines(and LOVE them!!). I will have to shoot some pics with the rear fogs on. Here is what my Blacklines look like. Really makes the car pop.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=716583

IF your interested in the Euro switch or the Blacklines... you will need to order the parts thru a European dealer(like Schneiderman.com) or ECS in the states.

Ok, so let me ask you, do EU spec BMWs have 1 or 2 rear fog lights?

They have TWO. The inner part of the tail light lights up, when the rear fogs are on. See my pre lci pic - in that first link for the eu switch.

So did you need to get the new switch like used on the 3 Series, or did you just code the lights? Could you share part #s please?

BTW, as I recall, in EU, you can use the FOG lights only in fog conditions, which makes sense. Here, in the US, people use them because they believe they look cool and because they believe they help them see better...

+1. I found it polite and quite informative.

Yup. And drivers over here take pride in only using the fog lights when its foggy or really raining hard. And besides... the Polizei will give you a ticket(payable on the spot in cash!) IF you use your fog lights(front AND rear) at the wrong times.

remember that clearly. Lived in Prague for 3 years and frequently "commuted" between Munich (Freising) and Prague. Got a few unpleasant surprises...

In Europe we don't have front fog lights in 235.
My car is also on it's way so I'd like to know how to turn on fog lights? I suppose there is some signal light for those?
If I got right so in Europe both rear fog lights work in new car. But reading your comments about front side markers got me thinking, should I get them on. (suppose those are in the car here) Has anyone a picture of those lights on in 2 coupe? Google didn't show me..
Jep, people from south come here to see snow.
And we go south for grill us in beach
Yesterday we got 10 cm snow, real 235 xdrive weather here. And my car is ready for me only 220 km away from here

You only need to order a euro headlight switch to get the rear fog lights to work. No coding. Just be sure to order the correct switch, bc there are many - depending on your car's options and model. You can use RealOEM.com to figure out which one you need. Just look up a EURO spec car, not a US one. Also... you will need to buy the part from a Euro dealer or someone like ECS who imports them into the USA.

What the OP in this thread has done in cut the tags on the factory headlight switch, allowing the rear fogs to turn on. This is known as the "Lego mod" on the ! series...

Cheap alternative to fog lamp lego mod or buying a euro switch

For F30/F22, CODING MUST be done! It is NOT LIKE the E82/E90. Without coding, the button will NOT function.

@reheat, can you post a pic with your car's rear fog lights on? Just to see what it looks like on a EU spec car, since Dack's car is US spec.

I don't have my car yet, sorry!
It's only 220km from here ready for me. But I register it after new year, so in papers it will be 2015 model.
In real i thinks it's 2014 model. Does someone know if it's possible to know cars real model year, for example identification number?

My car is European model, i get it in 2 weeks, so I guess there is euro headlight switch.
But i think only one tail fog light is working in my car, or how? So do I need to code if I want 2 tail for light?

Ah ok, no problem. Please post once you do get it! If it was built after August, it should be a 2015 model..at least, that's how it is for USA.
